Clear Facts

  • Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis stated deadly bar shooting appears retaliation for US strikes on Iran.
  • Suspect Ndiaga Diagne wore “Property of Allah” sweatshirt and shirt with Iranian flag colors and Shah image.
  • Attack Sunday killed two people and injured 14 others.
  • FBI notes potential terrorism nexus but motive still under investigation.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis joined local and federal officials in a Monday briefing on the Sunday bar shooting.

Davis pointed to suspect’s clothing as indicators linking the violence to recent US actions against Iran.

“I think for our purposes as we’re looking at the totality of this and certainly as a police chief, we are coming in and we are getting this information,” said Davis. “We see those indicators, the second shirt with Iran, a picture of the Shah on that T-shirt as well. We are thinking about events and what’s occurring in the country as well.”

San Antonio FBI Acting Special Agent Alex Doran stressed the ongoing probe demands full facts before declaring motive.

“This is an around the clock, 24 hour investigation at this point,” Doran stated. “Any declarations on what led to that motive would be premature. We want to make sure we have our facts 100% correct or at least we’ve tracked down every possible lead we can because after all that’s what we owe to the victims.”

Doran highlighted indicators suggesting terrorism ties as a key investigative path.
