Clear Facts

  • Former President Joe Biden told a South Carolina audience his administration created 2.2 million jobs in 2024.
  • Biden claimed the lowest average unemployment rate in 50 years.
  • BLS benchmark revisions reduced 2024 job gains by 862,000 from initial reports.
  • Biden compared his record unfavorably to Trump’s first year at 185,000 jobs.
  • Biden called Trump the only president besides Hoover with net job losses leaving office.

Joe Biden spoke at an event marking his 2020 South Carolina primary win.

He boasted about economic achievements that official data later contradicted.

“We’re the lowest average unemployment rate in 50 years. In fact, in just my last year as President of the United States in 2024, we created just the last year 2.2 million additional jobs. You know how many jobs Trump’s created in his first year as president? 185,000 jobs total,” Biden told the crowd.

“That’s it. Of course, it shouldn’t be a surprise. Trump’s the only president other than Herbert Hoover who had fewer jobs when he left office than when he came into office. That’s the fact.”

BLS data showed initial 2024 nonfarm payrolls overstated with revisions back to April 2024.

Biden’s 2025 comparison ignored calendar year versus inauguration timing, making it misleading.

Official revisions exposed weaker employment gains than Biden promoted.

Traditional American workers deserve accurate reporting on job realities.
