Campus Silence as Iran Faces Violent Crackdown

Clear Facts

  • The Iranian regime is accused of killing thousands of protesters in recent weeks.
  • There is minimal protest response on American college campuses or public support from Democratic lawmakers.
  • The Iranian economy is crumbling under sanctions and military setbacks, weakening the regime’s grip.

Reports indicate the Iranian government has killed between 12,000 and 20,000 protesters since the uprising began, with sources noting streets filled with citizens facing military force.

Protesters in Iran display courage by standing against heavily armed government forces, highlighting the contrast to performative activism seen online.

One report stated, “the Iranian government has murdered somewhere between 12,000 and 20,000 protesters since the ongoing national revolt began.”

College campuses in the United States remain largely inactive regarding support for Iranian protesters, and major Democratic political leaders have yet to respond with unified action.

The situation in Iran has received limited media coverage, despite weeks of escalating violence and widespread protests sparked by dire economic conditions and government oppression.

The Iranian rial continues to plummet, now valued at a fraction of a cent, signaling deep-rooted economic failure.

U.S.-imposed sanctions under the prior administration and Israel’s targeted actions against Iran’s militias have further weakened the regime.

Iran’s infrastructure is faltering, with shortages in water and power throughout the country.

Years of oppressive rule from the Ayatollahs and mullahs have left citizens disillusioned and desperate for change.

Previous protest movements in Iran, including the significant 2009 uprising, were disregarded by President Obama, who sought engagement with the regime.

“Obama called them ‘moderates’ and then tried to bring them into the fold of nations, which, as it turns out, was a horrifyingly bad idea that allowed them to strengthen themselves at the expense of America’s actual allies in the region.”

The 2015 JCPOA deal enabled Iran to pursue its nuclear ambitions, but the Trump administration reversed course, reinstating pressure that curtailed Iran’s power.

The Biden administration has reopened discussions about reviving nuclear agreements, dialing back the previous pressure.

As of late 2023, Iran has been implicated in attacks against Israel, with its forces suffering significant losses.

The regime added further repression by shutting down internet access, leaving little information about the continuing violence and killings.

It is estimated that at least 3,000 people have been murdered by security forces during this period, though the true toll may be much higher.

There has been eyewitness evidence and images of mass casualties, including reports of Revolutionary Guard units attacking protest crowds.

President Trump has called on Iranians to remain steadfast, urging them to save information on offenders within the regime.

“President Trump is taking a strong position, telling Iranians to keep protesting, take over the institutions, save the names of the killers and abusers.”

The fall of the Iranian regime could reshape global politics, diminishing Iranian support for terrorism and weapons proliferation to adversarial nations including Russia.

This shift could also undercut Hezbollah in Lebanon and potentially open diplomatic doors between Iran and Israel.

U.S. military intervention is not being advocated, but precision American backing for change in Iran could yield significant positive outcomes worldwide.

If Iran’s regime collapses, its allies’ aggressive actions in the Middle East could notably lose support.

Much of the political left and some elements on the right appear to downplay or ignore the scale of violence in Iran, instead trusting questionable figures from other groups in conflict zones.

College-age kids have very weak consciences and are easily influenced by the evil forces of the left. There is a direct connection between Democrat disinterest and campus disinterest. Because Democrats align with the evil regime in Iran, they have no interest in stirring unrest on campuses. The conclusion is that all campus unrest is related to Democrat, leftist influence.
