During his discussion with Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, Ratcliffe was direct about the U.S. position against Venezuela’s previous ties to criminal organizations and hostile nations.
“At President Trump’s direction, Director Ratcliffe traveled to Venezuela to meet with interim President Delcy Rodriguez to deliver the message that the United States looks forward to an improved working relationship,” a U.S. official stated.
There was a focus on potential U.S.-Venezuelan economic cooperation, as recent oil shipments demonstrate.
Ratcliffe made explicit the expectation that Venezuela must no longer allow drug trafficking organizations like Tren de Aragua to operate.
