Clooney Returns to Gray at Tony Awards

Clear Facts

  • George Clooney appeared at the 2025 Tony Awards with his natural gray hair after finishing his role in “Good Night, and Good Luck.”
  • He discussed his hair transformation and plans to return to his silver look on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
  • Amal Clooney’s legal work may impact the family’s status in the U.S. due to potential sanctions under Trump administration policies.

George Clooney, 64, arrived at the Tony Awards showing off his familiar gray hair. He walked the red carpet with his wife, Amal, in New York City after finishing a matinee performance.

During an interview on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Clooney described how he planned to fix his dyed dark hair, which he called “bad.”

“It’s bad. It’s still dark on top, but it’s gray at the bottom,” he told Meyers while wearing a hat. Clooney explained he hadn’t dyed his hair in two months, resulting in an uneven look.

“So you get that really nice-looking grow-out of gray,” he said.

Clooney had dyed his hair brown for his role in “Good Night, and Good Luck,” but promised Meyers his look would return to normal by the Tony Awards, despite the tight schedule.

“The last show is Sunday. We do a matinee, and then by the time we go to the Tonys that night, it’ll be gone,” he said.

Meyers joked that Clooney looked like he was “trying to get away with something” by wearing a hat. Clooney joked back about going through a midlife crisis at age 64.

“It really looks bad,” Clooney said. “It looks like [I’m] going through some horrible midlife crisis. I’m 64 – midlife is a little stretch.”

Amal Clooney, 47, joined her husband at the awards. The couple’s family status in the United States may face scrutiny due to Amal’s legal work in international courts, particularly related to cases involving Israel.

Reports indicate that sanctions signed by former President Trump could affect them because of Amal’s role in advising on a war crimes case regarding Israeli leaders and the conflict in Gaza.

Trump’s executive order stated, “The United States will impose tangible and significant consequences on those responsible for the ICC’s transgressions, some of which may include the blocking of property and assets, as well as the suspension of entry into the United States of ICC officials, employees, and agents, as well as their immediate family members.”

Amal, originally from Lebanon and raised in Britain, is a prominent lawyer licensed in both the U.K. and U.S. She and George Clooney married in 2014 and welcomed twins in 2017.

Stay tuned for more updates and let us know if you believe Clooney’s return to his natural look signals anything about his values or personal choices.

Rayspike is correct. He could have elaborated that hypocrisy is a hallmark of the pair. Complaining about poor people not getting enough from the government breast citing inadequate housing while their gazillion room estate on Lake Cuomo remains largely unoccupied. Let the poor folks move in there if you want to show some authenticity. What? Oh I guess not that authentic.
