DC Juvenile Arrest Stops Suspected School Attack

Authorities in Washington, D.C. arrested a minor after investigating social media threats targeting a local school. The arrest resulted in the recovery of seven firearms and charges related to unlawful weapon possession and stolen property.

The White House stated the individual posed a risk to the community, and law enforcement acted quickly following concerning online behavior. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized public safety remains a top priority.

Leavitt addressed concerns tied to the recent Minnesota school shooting, in which a transgender-identified individual killed two children and wounded seventeen before taking his own life. “We completely and totally understand the concerns of parents across the country,” Leavitt said.

She continued, “This tragedy is heartbreaking, as a parent myself, there are no words to describe just the heartbreak that these families must be enduring, which is why the president and the first lady have encouraged everyone to continue to pray for these families and these victims and it’s why this administration is focused on removing public safety threats from our communities.”

Leavitt explained, “This was a juvenile who was a risk to not just himself but the community here in Washington and he was removed from the community last night because of the law enforcement efforts of this administration.”

First Lady Melania Trump issued a statement highlighting the need for early action when warning signs of violence are present. According to her, identifying and reporting threats online can help prevent future tragedies.

Leavitt urged, “We encourage all Americans, as the old saying goes, if you see something, say something.” She assured the public that federal authorities will take such threats seriously and respond as emergencies when appropriate.

Wednesday’s arrest was one of 105 carried out that night in D.C., including the apprehension of 32 illegal aliens, several of whom had prior criminal records. The enforcement campaign led by President Trump’s administration has resulted in 1,283 arrests in the city since August 7.

Among those arrested was a known gang member, and other offenses included assault on officers, domestic violence, and more serious felonies. Officers also located a missing child and reunited them with local authorities.
