Dem Rep Says She’s ‘Rooting For’ Foreign Nations Over Trump

In a surprising revelation, Democratic Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett has openly declared her support for Canada and Mexico, citing their resistance to the policies of President Donald Trump’s administration.
During an appearance on a radio show, Crockett remarked on the unusual nature of her stance, stating, “The fact that I’m rooting for Canada and I’m rooting for Mexico a lot is really wild, but they are really the ones that are speaking truth to power right now.”
The backdrop to this support is the recent agreement by Canada and Mexico to enhance their border security efforts with the United States. This move was in exchange for a 30-day suspension of the 25% tariffs President Trump had announced.
Crockett’s comments highlight her appreciation for the defiance shown by these neighboring nations.
She noted, “They can see what it is and they were like, ‘We are not messing with this crazy regime from Mar-a-Lago,’ and basically calling them thugs.”
Both Canada and Mexico initially resisted Trump’s tariff proposals. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum took to social media to express her country’s stance, emphasizing that while Mexico would cooperate with the U.S., it would not succumb to American control.
She firmly stated, “We categorically reject the White House’s slander against the Mexican government of having alliances with criminal organizations, as well as any intention of intervention in our territory.”
Similarly, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urged Canadians to support domestic products over American goods, signaling a pushback against the U.S. tariffs.
Crockett herself released a statement condemning the tariffs, asserting that Trump’s actions were detrimental to the American people.
She wrote, “Today, Donald Trump has thrown the American people under the bus by imposing 25% tariffs on America’s neighbors and largest trading partners, Mexico and Canada, and 10% tariffs on Chinese goods—all while claiming that the American people won’t bear the brunt of the increased costs.”
In a further escalation, Trump reinstated a 25% tariff on steel and increased tariffs on aluminum to 25% on February 10, a move opposed by Mexico, Canada, and Crockett alike.
