WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Elaine Chao, former transportation secretary, hit back at former President Donald Trump’s racist remarks against her.
  • She and her husband, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, has been the target of Trump’s ire following their criticism of the Capitol attack.
  • After Trump called her “Coco Chow” again, Chao said that the remark “says a whole lot more about him” than Asian Americans.

Elaine Chao, former Transportation Secretary, responded to former President Donald Trump’s racist remarks against her.

Chao, who served in Trump’s cabinet for four years, was the first Asian woman to be appointed to a presidential cabinet. Her husband, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), has also been the subject of Trump’s criticisms and name-calling since he denounced the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. After the Capitol riot, Chao was the first Trump Cabinet member to resign.

In August, Trump wrote on Truth Social that McConnell was a “broken down hack politician” and called Chao his “crazy wife.” In October, Trump said McConnell had a “death wish” for approving Democrat-sponsored bills and called Chao his “China-loving wife Coco Chow.”

The remarks were denounced by a few Republican lawmakers, but Chao herself avoided giving any direct response. McConnell also previously stated that he had no response to Trump’s “crazy wife” remark.

Chao told CNN in December, “He’s trying to get a rise out of us. He says all sorts of outrageous things, and I don’t make a point of answering any one of them.”

On Monday, Trump repeated the “Coco Chow” remark in a Truth Social post that read, “Does Coco Chow have anything to do with Joe Biden’s Classified Documents being sent and stored in Chinatown? Her husband, the Old Broken Crow, is VERY close to Biden, the Democrats, and, of course, China.”

Chao told Insider on Wednesday, “When I was young, some people deliberately misspelled or mispronounced my name. Asian Americans have worked hard to change that experience for the next generation. He doesn’t seem to understand that, which says a whole lot more about him than it will ever say about Asian Americans.”

When asked about the remarks on Chao, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung told Insider, “People should stop feigning outrage and engaging in controversies that exist only in their heads.”

Cheung echoed Trump’s claims in a statement to Politico: “What’s actually concerning is her family’s deeply troubling ties to Communist China, which has undermined American economic and national security.”

Elaine Chao is obviously a CCP spy and McRINO McConnell is compromised. Cocaine Mitch sabotaged many MAGA trump endorsed candidates misdirecting funds and funding secret adds against them before the 2022 midterm elections thus losing the US Senate!
