Chick-fil-A, the widely liked Atlanta-based fast-food chain, has broken new ground by launching its first elevated drive-thru restaurant. Constructed in McDonough, Georgia, the innovative outlet features a giant kitchen elevated over four drive-thru lanes.

This is not merely a new building but a novel concept in the fast-food industry. The restaurant, which operates from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Sunday, is entirely committed to drive-thru service, with no in-house dining option.

To optimize food delivery, Chick-fil-A has implemented a “sophisticated conveyor belt system.”

Per the company, this system “promptly transports the meal from the elevated kitchen above to a Team Member on the ground below.” Notably, the conveyor can deliver food every six seconds.

Chick-fil-A assures its customers that despite this new model, the standard of service remains excellent. “Guests will continue to receive the service and care that they are accustomed to through a streamlined, drive-thru focused experience,” the company states.

The elevated drive-thru restaurant offers various options for customers to order their food. Customers can either pre-order using the Chick-fil-A app or directly place their order with an employee at the drive-thru lane upon arrival.

Predicting the diverse ordering methods, the company has designed the site to include both Mobile Thru lanes and traditional lanes. The drive-thru restaurant can accommodate two to three times as many vehicles, according to Chick-fil-A.

With the aim to “increase speed-of-service and simplify the drive-thru experience for guests,” Chick-fil-A initially publicized the plans for this revolutionary drive-thru-focused restaurant about thirteen months ago. Simultaneously, the fast-food chain also unveiled another design intended solely for delivery and mobile pickup orders.

This additional restaurant design premiered in Manhattan in March. Chick-fil-A stated that both designs intend to cater to the “on-the-go guest,” considering the growing trend of digital ordering methods.

Chick-fil-A, a southern restaurant chain that has evolved into a culinary icon since its foundation in the 60s, now operates over 3,000 locations across the U.S. and Canada. The launch of the elevated drive-thru restaurant represents another significant achievement in the company’s dedication to customer service and innovation.
