FBI Director’s Potential Resignation Sparks Intense Speculation

Clear Facts
- FBI Director Christopher Wray is reportedly planning to resign before President-elect Donald Trump can remove him from his position.
- Wray’s departure is expected to be temporary, with FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate stepping in until a new director is appointed.
- Senator Chuck Grassley criticized Wray for failing to comply with congressional oversight and for perceived double standards in FBI investigations.
FBI Director Christopher Wray is reportedly considering stepping down before President-elect Donald Trump can dismiss him, echoing the fate of William Sessions under President Bill Clinton in 1993. According to sources within the FBI, Wray prefers to leave on his own terms rather than face a public firing by Trump.
“He’s going to be gone at the inauguration. On or before the inauguration,” stated one insider. This move would temporarily place FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate in charge, who had originally planned to stay with the bureau until 2025 to assist with the transition.
The FBI has emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability. The bureau noted, “Director Wray and Deputy Director Abbate have taken strong actions toward achieving accountability in the areas mentioned in the letter and remain committed to sharing information about the continuously evolving threat environment facing our nation and the extraordinary work of the FBI.”
Despite expressing enjoyment in his role earlier this year, Wray’s position has become increasingly untenable. Trump’s announcement of Kash Patel as his nominee for FBI director signaled Wray’s impending exit. In a recent interview, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Wray’s performance, stating, “I can’t say I’m thrilled with him.”
Trump’s grievances include the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago, which he described as an invasion. “I’m very unhappy with the things he’s done,” Trump added, lamenting the perceived decline in the FBI’s respect over the years.
Senator Chuck Grassley has also been vocal in his criticism of Wray. In an 11-page letter, Grassley accused Wray of failing to comply with congressional oversight and protecting whistleblowers. He charged Wray with perpetuating “the old playbook of weaponization, double standards, and a relentless game of hide-and-seek with the Congress.”
Grassley highlighted several areas where he believes Wray fell short, including the FBI’s handling of allegations against Joe Biden and the raid on Trump’s Florida residence. He concluded, “For the good of the country, it’s time for you and your deputy to move on to the next chapter in your lives.”
The expectation within the FBI is that Wray will not remain to face dismissal, with one source noting, “It’s a countdown for Wray because [people here] don’t think he will stay to get fired after what Trump did to Comey.”

Catch the MF and put him in the jail forever. This piece of shit played Biden’s tune and almost destroyed Mr. Trump. The two attemps of assassination on Trump’s life happened with his knowledge and with his intentional lack of preventing this for happening. This guy deserves the punishment which should come to him

Be careful with your criticisms, and don’t parrot what you have heard. I still question the “assassination” attempts and even Trump for exposing himself after campaigning on a platform of violence.

Absolutely “spot on”. Wray is an arrogant, condescending Narcissist, SOB. Much of his actions can be considered that of a political traitor. This one really deserves severe punishment. I am sure he is a candidate for Biden’s phony pardon machine. Somehow pardons have become weaponized as well. Wray deserves to stand in front of a “firing squad”. right next to Merrick Garland.

Wray should face criminal charges for prosecuting Trump on bogus charges. He also should have stopped Biden from pardoning his son. To me, it seems the FBI has gone downhill over the last few years, from a receptible organization to nothing.

He wants to resign so he doesn’t get investigated on all the corruption that went on. They still should go after him.

RINOs like Wray are a good ol’ boys club within the GOP whose goals of self-interest often run counter to those of the GOP electorate.
