Former Democrats, Republicans form third political party

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Former Democratic presidential hopeful Andrew Yang announced Wednesday joined with several dozen other political officials to form a new national political third party.
  • Members of the new party, known as Forward, are former Republicans, Democrats and independents.
  • Yang said that the Forward Party is part of an effort to give Americans an alternative to the two major parties.

Former Democratic New York City mayoral candidate announced Wednesday that he has joined forces with former Republicans, Democrats and independents on the Forward Party.

Yang, a former Democratic presidential hopeful, said that the merger is part of an effort to give Americans an alternative to the two major parties.

Yang says the new party, known as Forward, is now the third-biggest political party based on resources. Founding members hope it will serve to bridge the stark divide in U.S. politics.

The new party will be co-chaired by Yang and Christine Todd Whitman, the former Republican governor of New Jersey. Its founding base consists of members of the Renew America Movement (RAM), the Serve America Movement (SAM) and Yang’s Forward Party, Reuters first reported.

RAM was created by dozens of former officials in previous Republican administrations and is led by former Trump White House official Miles Taylor, while SAM is a political organization made up of Democrats, independents and Republicans that was founded by former Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.).

“Our reach will expand very quickly,” Yang wrote in a blog post announcing the party. “We are already on the ballot in several states with a goal of 15 states by the end of this year, twice that number in ’’23 and all 50 in ’24.”

“What is the main objection you hear to third parties? ‘They can’t compete,’” Yang said. “Well, we are demonstrating that we can generate the resources necessary to elevate and elect candidates around the country with the support of tens of thousands of Americans and millions of dollars of grassroots funding.”

“Together, we are not left, not right, but Forward.”

Yang launched the Forward Party last year and had identified Minnesota as one of his first targets for building out a state-level party and presence.

But his endorsed candidate for governor dropped out just before the filing deadline, and he didn’t end up recruiting any candidates to run.

The party’s debut in Minnesota did draw concern that any endorsed candidates would draw from Democrats’ pool of possible voters in close races and tip the scales to Republicans come November.

Forward Party. Sounds like Progressive which we already have. Nope. Try again. How about we simply abolish the party system and elect representatives instead of these pig heads that think they are our leaders.

Why don’t we just do away with the federal government all together, all they do is blow our money and now the military is woke to the point they probably can’t keep us safe, after all, isn’t a state government basically the same as the federal government but the tax money stays in the state? Just a thought

“FORWARD” is an old well used communist term. Hillary Clinton also used it, do I need to say more?

If you’re moving forward that means you are progressing toward something. No thanks. That ready exists in our political arena. How about backward? Or the in betweens? Inside outs? I smell a rat.

Maybe, just maybe we might get someone in office that doesn’t want to tear this country apart from the inside and protect our national security at the southern border so the terrorists , drug SMUGGLERS and other criminal entities from around the world will stop trying to come here…
I really hope there is a better option than the 2luser admins we’ve had…

We already have a third party it’s called the Independent’s and the only thing a third party does is take votes away from either of the two parties candidates. We need to STOP voting for people based on if we like them as a person! In 2016 I voted for Trump not because I liked him as a person but because I liked his platform, I didn’t vote for Hillary not because I didn’t like her as a person but because I didn’t like her platform. In 2020 I voted for Trump because I still liked his platform and because of what he had already done for this Country even with all the road blocks the Democrats had put in his way. I didn’t vote for Biden not because I didn’t like him as a person but because I didn’t like his platform or his track record from his years already spent in his political career. Now D.D. you posted that the last two admins were both bad well just what didn’t Trump follow through with? He was for this Country and the American people, he was for National Security and protecting our Southern border but the Democrat politicians tried to block everything he tried to do to protect our borders from drug smugglers and other criminal entities from getting into this Country. From your post sounds like you base your vote on the basis of your like or dislike of the person and not their platforms or past records.

Agree. Another reason democrats pushed so much hate for Trump, he wasn’t a career politician! Helping America was his goal, not to get richer like this administration does.
Biden, career political failures followed him for 40 years! Time for WE THE PEOPLE to wake up.

This could be a good thing for republicans. It should draw the most intelligent from the democratic party and the worst from the republican party. Sounds like a plus for Republicans.

What ideas does Piglosi have that aren’t stupid? As far as a third party goes, look who is creating it, Andrew yang. Need I say more? I’m sticking with the republicans!
