GOP Voters Alarmed by Foreign Farmland Ownership

Clear Facts
- A significant 88% of Republican voters are worried about Chinese companies acquiring American farmland, with 55% being “extremely concerned.”
- Concerns extend beyond farmland, with GOP voters wary of China’s influence on the American food supply, companies, and universities.
- Republican lawmakers and voters support measures to prevent Chinese ownership of U.S. farmland and to protect American interests.
A recent poll has unveiled a growing concern among Republican voters regarding the acquisition of American farmland by Chinese companies. Conducted by esteemed Trump pollsters Tony Fabrizio and David Lee, the survey revealed that a staggering 88% of GOP voters are troubled by this issue.
Of those surveyed, 55% expressed being “extremely concerned” about the prospect of Chinese ownership of U.S. farmland.
The poll, which gathered insights from 800 Republican voters nationwide between March 13-17, 2025, also highlighted broader apprehensions. Many respondents voiced worries about Chinese control over the American food supply and the influence exerted by China on American companies and educational institutions.
Data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture indicates that as of 2020, companies linked to the Chinese Communist Party had acquired over 338,000 acres of American farmland. This has raised alarms among Republican lawmakers, particularly given that some of these acquisitions are near U.S. military bases.
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has been vocal about the issue, stating, “China is infiltrating our culture, our farmland, and our skies because they see us as weak. This is not sustainable.”
In response to these concerns, the polling firm evaluated 11 legislative proposals that resonated positively with voters. These include measures to curb fentanyl imports from China, mandates for state infrastructure projects to utilize American-made products, and initiatives to thwart China’s attempts to steal American intellectual property.
The sentiment among GOP voters is clear: 68% indicated they would be less inclined to support candidates who favor outsourcing critical parts of the food supply to China. Only a mere 6% would consider voting for lawmakers who support such measures.
Republican Texas Representative Brandon Gill has taken action by introducing a bill aimed at banning China and Iran from owning American farmland. This move aligns with several GOP-led initiatives to prevent foreign ownership of U.S. land.
The poll’s conclusion underscores the Republican stance: “Republicans are very concerned about the outsourcing of our food supply to China and are strongly in favor of proposals to make sure that does not happen.” It further emphasizes that those not aligned with this perspective will face consequences at the ballot box.

Arkansas new bill by governor, NO foreign countries can own farms in Arkansas. Texas has a new bill to stop foreign countries from buying farms in Texas. I don’t know how they are going to deal with the Chinese Communism owned 150,000 ac next to our Military base on borders of Mexico

Bill Gates was buying farmland and I was ok with that as he is an American. If farmers keep selling to the Chinese they will take over this country.

My thought is, who are the land owners who are selling the land? Is farming so
unprofitable? Or are theey just putting money before Country?

Since 1998, when I became a realtor, I have wanted to know why anyone other than an American citizen is allowed to purchase ANY property in the USA. Think of ways an enemy could wreak havoc … It’s so unbelievably short- sighted of our elected representatives to have not used critical thinking skills in order to prevent possible disastrous situations or consequences.

The Chinese Communist Party wants to dominate the world,!and is celebrating because they finally gained access inside the USA; look many CCP spies in schools, military, everywhere! It is time for America to wake up, retrieve those lands from them; they snakes! They have no morals because they don’t believe in God. CCP knows our secrets so much thanks to Biden.
