Greene Calls for Action Against Democrat “Hamas Caucus Leader”

U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has raised alarms, formally requesting the U.S. Capitol Police to retain all records, from surveillance footage to arrest reports, related to the significant protest that took place on Capitol Hill.

The demonstration, which had demonstrators pressing Congress to champion a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, took center stage inside the Cannon House Office Building.

Organized by the Jewish groups Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and IfNotNow, the protest was marked by vocal chants and banners all bearing the unifying cry: “cease-fire now.”

Greene didn’t mince words when she took to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, posting her letter addressed to Capitol Police Chief John Thomas Manger.

“By launching an insurrection in the Capitol complex, these actors caused elevators to be shut down, staircases and hallways to be blocked, exits to be made inaccessible, and official legislative business to be obstructed, putting Members of Congress, their staffs and Capitol visits at risk,” she elucidated.

Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Greene called upon the House Administration Committee to rigorously investigate the incident.

“The insurrectionists involved must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the Georgia Republican wrote, clearly expressing her view on the matter.

Beyond her call for preservation of evidence and prosecution, Greene unleashed a flurry of posts on X.

Labeling the protest “an insurrection of Capitol Hill,” she pulled no punches, directly implicating Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) as the ringleader of the demonstration, referring to her as the “Hamas Caucus Leader.”

Tlaib, together with Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), both of whom addressed the crowd, have been vocal advocates, urging the Biden administration to actively pursue an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.

While the Capitol Police haven’t released an official count of the arrested protestors, they did confirm that arrests were “ongoing.” Moreover, three of these individuals now face charges for assaulting a police officer.

JVP, on the other hand, released its own numbers, claiming a gathering of 10,000 outside the Capitol with an additional 500 inside, all unified in their demand to halt what they termed as the “Israeli and U.S. government’s genocide in Gaza.”

This protest is set against the backdrop of escalating violence involving Israel and Hamas, with recent attacks by Hamas leaving a staggering 1,300 dead and 199 reported hostages, as per claims by the Israel military.
