Newsom’s Bold Move to “Trump-Proof” California Sparks Clash with President-Elect
Clear Facts
- California Governor Gavin Newsom has called a special legislative session to “Trump-proof” the state against the incoming federal administration.
- Newsom aims to protect California’s civil rights, reproductive freedom, and climate action from potential federal changes.
- President-elect Trump criticized Newsom’s actions, suggesting they oppose efforts to improve California.
In a bold move, California Governor Gavin Newsom has initiated a special legislative session with the intent to “Trump-proof” the state. This decision comes as a preemptive measure to safeguard California’s values against potential actions from the incoming federal administration.
Newsom made his intentions clear on social media, stating,
“I just called an emergency special session to help bolster our legal resources and protect our state against any unlawful actions by the incoming Trump Administration.”
He emphasized the importance of defending California’s core principles, including civil rights, reproductive freedom, and climate action, declaring,
“Whether it be our fundamental civil rights, reproductive freedom, or climate action — we refuse to turn back the clock and allow our values and laws to be attacked.”
This announcement did not go unnoticed by President-elect Trump, who voiced his disapproval. He accused Newsom of using the term “Trump-proof” as a means to hinder efforts aimed at improving the state, saying it was a way of stopping all of the “GREAT things that can be done to ‘Make California Great Again’.”
Newsom’s history with the Trump administration has been marked by frequent clashes, particularly on issues such as immigration, water management, high-speed rail, and wildfires. Despite these disagreements, it is noteworthy that Trump did provide emergency assistance to California when necessary.
As Newsom positions himself as a potential leader of the so-called “resistance” against Trump, the challenge remains significant, especially considering that Trump secured nearly 40% of the vote in California during the election.

The voters in California just spoke on the soft on crime policies. If the governor and legislature continue down the path making Claifornia toxic they are signing their own death certificates.

It is time to prosecute and incarcerate all politicians who violate SCOTUS orders and opinions. Who do they think they are? monarchs? There is no excuse for the state legislators and executives to violate he Law.

If Newsom thinks he can run California without federal help, such as EV rebates, he better think fast. The state is already in trouble financially and without federal help they may go the way of dinosaurs and be put to rest.
