Shooter’s Writings Reveal Deep Regret and Blame

Newly uncovered writings from Robin Westman show he expressed deep regret over embracing transgenderism and marijuana use, blaming both for his mental health issues and violent impulses.

Westman changed his name from Robert to Robin in 2020 with his mother’s signature on legal documents.

He wrote extensively about his struggle with transgender identity and the negative influence of frequent marijuana use, linking these to his actions.

“Your words, mother, made me stay in my discomfort unable to ask for help to avoid admitting defeat. You were right mama, but the way you handled it led me to wanting to kill so so many people,” Westman wrote.

Westman recalled his mother’s initial antagonism after his decision to identify as transgender, which he said led to lasting self-hatred.

“When I was first out to my mother, she was VERY antagonistic. She really made me hate myself and think I will never be good enough,” he wrote.

“I remember one day, she said something like, ‘In the future you will look back and feel ridiculous about who you feel like you are inside. You will regret this.’”

“Well guess what mom?! I regret being born,” Westman said.

He directly blamed gender experimentation and drug use for his instability.

“Gender and weed f***ed up my head,” Westman wrote. “I wish I never tried experimenting with either. Don’t let your kids smoke weed or change gender until they are like seventeen.”

Westman’s attack occurred as students attended mass, and he left behind a collection of writings, videos, and messages that detailed his struggles.

He wrote about maintaining long hair as his last sign of being trans, wishing he could abandon his chosen identity but fearing further perceived defeat and judgment.

“I only keep [long hair] because it is pretty much my last shred of being trans. I am tired of being trans, I wish I never brain-washed myself,” Westman wrote.

“I can’t cut my hair now as it would be [an] embarrassing defeat, and it might be a concerning change of character that could get me reported. It just always gets in my way. I will probably chop it on the day of the attack,” he added.

Westman expressed disdain not only for his identity but also for Christians, Jews, and public figures, signaling a pattern of hate-fueled rhetoric along with deep personal conflict.
