A South Carolina pastor and his wife face serious charges after a minor reported years of sexual and physical abuse while in their foster care. Rodney Gibson and Kawiana Young were taken into custody following an investigation by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim said the abuse began at age 15 and continued until they aged out of the state system. Charges against Gibson also include second-degree criminal sexual conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Young, who operated the DreamCatcher Child Development Center, was a licensed foster parent through the South Carolina Department of Social Services. The agency said she never reported being married or that Gibson was living in her home.

Despite an initial report last month, a family court judge briefly ordered the return of a minor to the home during a March hearing. Later evidence led to the final arrests on April 1 and the permanent removal of the child from the residence.

Gibson serves as a pastor at Pathway 2 Hope Ministries in South Carolina. Both defendants were released on bond on April 2 as the investigation continues into potential additional victims.
