In a significant victory against organized crime, a high-ranking MS-13 leader was apprehended in the northern Virginia area, a mere hour away from the nation’s capital. This arrest, announced by law enforcement leaders, marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing battle against one of the most notorious gangs in the United States.

The individual, yet to be named by authorities, is recognized as one of the top three MS-13 leaders nationwide. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, and FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted the arrest as a testament to the administration’s robust efforts against organized crime.

“He was the leader for the East Coast, one of the top three in the entire country, right here in Virginia, living half an hour outside of Washington, D.C.,” Bondi stated.

She further emphasized, “America is safer today because one of the top domestic terrorists in MS-13 is off the streets.”

MS-13, an international criminal syndicate, has been linked to numerous violent crimes across the U.S. Originating in Los Angeles, the gang is largely associated with Salvadoran nationals. El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has been actively incarcerating MS-13 members in his country.

“This is what happens when you let good cops be cops,” Patel remarked, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to law enforcement.

He added, “And if you are here illegally, you will not be here any longer.”

Governor Youngkin, a key player in the task force responsible for the arrest, underscored the necessity of collaboration between state and federal agencies to dismantle organized crime networks. He urged other leaders to consider 287(g) agreements, which empower local police with immigration authority, thus facilitating the deportation of criminal illegal migrants.

“Listen, it’s time for us to recognize that Virginia is not a sanctuary state,” Youngkin declared.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation, stating, “If you are a local jurisdiction and not helping us and not cooperating with us, you are working against the safety of all of those men and women that call your jurisdiction home.”

The arrest took place in Dale City, Virginia, and is part of a larger crackdown that has seen a dramatic increase in law enforcement actions since Trump’s return to the White House. According to Bondi, arrests in Virginia have surged by 468% in the past four weeks compared to the same period last year.

In a short span, 342 individuals have been arrested in Virginia, many of whom are illegal migrants. Of these, 81 have been identified as having affiliations with gangs or transnational crime.

“MS-13 — they are organized, they are violent, they are committing homicides throughout our country,” Bondi asserted.

She vowed, “They are one of the most dangerous gangs in our country and we are going to fight until they are completely dismantled.”
