  • U.S. Capitol Police reported an increase in threats against members of Congress and advised extra security precautions ahead of the midterms.

Former President Donald Trump blamed a general rise in crime when asked about the recent attack on Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

In an interview with conservative Spanish-language network Americano Media, Trump called the attack a “terrible thing.”

“With Paul Pelosi, that’s a terrible thing, and with all of them, that’s a terrible thing. Look at what happened to San Francisco generally. Look at what’s happening in Chicago. It was far worse than Afghanistan,” Trump said.

Trump said that the increased violence in the state makes it look like a war zone. He then declared that the problem can be solved by giving the police their power back.

He remarked how saying “something that’s slightly out of line” would mean the end of a police officer’s life nowadays.

“We can’t do that,” he said. “We have to give the police back their authority and their power and their respect. Because this country is out of control.”

David DePape, 42, allegedly broke into the rear door of the Pelosis’ San Francisco home early Friday morning. According to authorities, he shouted “Where is Nancy?” and made his way upstairs to confront Paul Pelosi, who had already placed a 911 call. Police were dispatched to the home at around 2:20 a.m.

When officers arrived, the two men were struggling over a hammer. DePape managed to strike Pelosi at least once before he was tackled by officers. He is facing charges on suspicion of attempted murder, elder abuse, and others, according to San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins.

Paul Pelosi, 82, was left with a fractured skull, among other injuries. His injuries required surgery, for which he remains hospitalized in San Francisco.

Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, D.C., at the time of the attack. Congressional leaders like the House Speaker had security protection for themselves but not for their families. She had to return to California to be with her husband.

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger said that the number of threats against members of Congress has risen within the last year to about 10,000. He advised lawmakers to take extra security precautions ahead of the midterms.

We can debate about how, why and what until the cows come home. Only Paul Pelosi can clear the air on all the facts. They are taking their time to do so, does this mean they are looking to give a plausible story to Press and public. They have to be careful when doing so, leaving no gaps and questions to follow.
There’s a rat that smells really bad.
I think it was a lovers spat. Heck PP is human. Very bad for politics and hypocrisy for party politics for Nancy.
