Trump Pushes Strict Voter ID Order Promise

- President Trump announced plans to sign an executive order requiring voter ID for all votes with no exceptions.
- He also pledged to largely eliminate mail-in voting, except for the seriously ill and military members far from home.
- Currently, 36 states have some form of voter ID law, and mail-in ballots accounted for about 30% of votes in the 2024 election.
President Trump stated Saturday he plans to sign an executive order mandating voter ID for every ballot, without exception.
He posted on Truth Social, “Voter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS! I Will Be Doing An Executive Order To That End!!! Also, No Mail-In Voting, Except For Those That Are Very Ill, And The Far Away Military. USE PAPER BALLOTS ONLY!!!”
This move would impact voting rules in both Republican- and Democrat-led states, where voter ID requirements vary widely.
Trump argued, “We are now the only Country in the World that uses Mail-In Voting. All others gave it up because of the MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD ENCOUNTERED.”
He continued, “WE WILL BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH WILL BE STRONGLY OPPOSED BY THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE THEY CHEAT AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, by signing an EXECUTIVE ORDER to help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections.”
Currently, statistics show most voters cast ballots in person during early voting or on election day, while around 30% voted by mail in 2024, down from 2020 levels.
Trump said, “ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, and everybody, IN PARTICULAR THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS.”

OK Mr President…you are off to a sane and sensible start, but I hope you keep going by introducing further reforms like (1) All voter locations must have a minimum of three hopefully independent judges, or at least one from the sitting party, one from opposing party and one or more that is unaffiliated unaffiliated. The results required to be reviewed with oversight by the Attorney General’s Office. (2) any findings of fraud or illegal or improper voting should be investigated by the Attorney General’s Office and responsible parties prosecuted. And voter irregularities should include improper or illegal attempts to bribe or coerce voters in any way. And, any illegal aliens caught trying to vote should be immediately deported. My $0.05 cents worth.
