Clear Facts

  • President Donald Trump addressed Pennsylvania supporters, highlighting economic improvements under his administration compared to his predecessor.
  • Trump cited lower prices for everyday goods, increased real wages, and surging private investments during his remarks.
  • Recent polls show most voters still view the economy negatively, despite Trump’s claims of progress.

President Trump spoke to a packed crowd in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, emphasizing the positive changes in the economy since he took office again. He credited his administration with reducing prices and delivering higher paychecks for American workers.

“They caused the high prices, and we’re bringing them down,” Trump told the crowd at the casino resort.

Affordability remains central to voters as midterms near, with Republicans sharpening their message after Democrats won several elections by focusing on cost-of-living issues. Polling indicates 76% of Americans still feel negative about the economy, an increase since the previous administration.

Trump highlighted statistics on wage growth, stating that real wages had dropped by $3,000 under Biden. He cited gains during his term, with factory workers’ wages up $1,300, construction up over $1,800, and miners up $3,300. He also noted a reported $3,500 drop for construction workers during Biden’s time.

Trump referenced the cost of Thanksgiving dinners, claiming Walmart data proves meals are now 25% less expensive under his leadership and turkey prices have dropped 33%.

He added that egg prices have “dropped like a rock,” stating they are down 80% since March.

“One of the most important ways we’re defeating inflation is by unleashing American energy, including oil, gas and clean beautiful coal,” Trump said. He noted that gas prices are at a seven-year low in 22 states, with three seeing $1.99 per gallon.

Trump discussed lower mortgage rates and touted $18 trillion in new private investments as proof of his economic accomplishments.

“I can’t say affordability hoax because I agree the prices were too high. I can’t call it a hoax because they’ll misconstrue that. But they use the word affordability and that’s their only word,” Trump commented as he criticized Democrat rhetoric.

He argued that Democrats talking about affordability, “is like Bonnie and Clyde preaching about public safety.”

Amid his criticism, Trump asserted he doesn’t have to convince the public about his policies, insisting they are “the right policy.”

“We don’t have to sell men in women’s sports. We don’t have to sell transgender to everybody. We don’t have to sell open borders where the whole world is allowed to come into our country from prisons and everywhere,” Trump told the crowd. “That’s our message. They gave you high prices. They gave you the highest inflation in history. And we’re giving you we’re bringing those prices down rapidly.”
