Uvalde police chief not responding to requests for follow-up interview
- Uvalde Police Chief Peter Arredondo has yet to respond to requests for a second interview, a spokesman from the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
- The DPS said that he participated in an initial interview regarding the state’s investigation into the shooting at Robb Elementary, but he has yet to respond since.
- The police response was scrutinized after footage and witness accounts revealed that officers had waited outside the school for a while before finally entering.
An official from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said that they have not received a response from Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Police Chief Peter Arredondo after they requested a follow-up interview regarding the state’s investigation into the shooting at Robb Elementary.
Travis Considine, a spokesman for the DPS, told NBC News that “Uvalde and Uvalde CISD departments have been cooperating with investigators,” but they have yet to receive a response from Arredondo after an initial interview two days ago.
Arredondo appeared during a brief press conference shortly after the shooting that killed 19 children and two teachers. He said at the time, “I can confirm right now that we have several injuries, adults and students, and we do have some deaths. The suspect is deceased.” He added that they will release more information as the investigation continues.
The police response was scrutinized after footage and witness accounts revealed that officers had waited outside the school while the students’ families desperately urged them to go inside and save their children.
Officers reportedly waited outside since the incident commander, thought to be Arredondo, incorrectly believed the situation involved a barricaded suspect.
An investigation into the law enforcement’s response to the shooting has been launched, the Justice Department announced over the weekend.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott expressed how “livid” he was about being “misled” about the police response at the scene.
The governor remarked, “There are people who deserve answers the most, and those are the families whose lives have been destroyed. They need answers that are accurate.”

Haven’t followed all the detail on the shooting but I would bet that the MSM and the current administration will twist any answers to cast blame on the right and possibly figure ways to blame our President, Donald Trump.

I am sure the internal investigations is being done by ATF and FBI- on what truly happened – lots of media fake up the story on what truly happened – the number one fact of this story – is the teacher propped the door open and left it propped open for the mad man to enter the school unchecked – if this teacher would have followed the criteria mandate of the school system of not leaving a door not sealed securely, all of this could have been possibility avoided – here another little tidbit – how come biden and pelsoi can hand over 40 billion dollars to another nation to try and secure their nation from the madman putin, but not one penny has been spent by biden and pelosi to secure the schools in this nation and still none has been – –

It is interesting that the heroes of the day were the much-villified Border Patrol. They did not hesitate, one was wounded with a close-to-killing round, but they carried the day.

There was no SRO at the school that day and why were 19 cops waiting right outside the room where the kids and teachers were being murdered? Over 1 hour!!!!! Their excuse was the door was locked??!! Border patrol agent drove an hour to the school and he go into the room in minutes after he got the key from a janitor. Those 19 cops should not just be fired, they should be put in jail. They are a disgrace to the badge and the oath they took.

The piece of dog dropping responsible for this heinous execution was nothing less than “Pure Evil” – there was NO mental illness – all calculated….

The police chief is probably lawyering up right now. I could agree that facing reporters is not a good thing for him. I know i would have a hard time living in the area having made the people killing decisions he made. However i believe he has been asked by DPS to officially answer questions. it does not matter if he has done this once before or 10 times before. Now that we have stories from the parents, the hostages, the police who were ordered to wait, the BORTAC commander, the parents, the pathologist they have a better picture and need him to put in his two cents worth responding to OFFICIAL questions, it is not an option.
