The network mistakenly displayed a graphic that referred to the infamous terrorist Osama bin Laden as “Obama bin Laden.” This slip-up quickly became fodder for social media users, who did not hold back their criticism.

The error appeared on “CNN News Central” during a segment discussing interrogation techniques used on Abu Zubaydah, a terrorist associated with Al-Qaeda who is currently detained at Guantanamo Bay. As anchor Boris Sanchez reported on the situation, a graphic mistakenly labeled Zubaydah as an “OBAMA BIN LADEN ASSOCIATE.”

While Sanchez did not verbally confuse former President Barack Obama with Osama bin Laden, he did stumble over Zubaydah’s name. The mistake was glaringly evident to viewers, leading to a flurry of reactions online.

One user sarcastically remarked, “Yesterday CNN was talking about Big Balls. Today they’re talking about Obama Bin Laden.
