WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • On Saturday, Donald Trump Jr shared an Instagram meme against Joe Biden, presumptive Democratic presidential candidate.
  • The slur was based on conspiracy theories by the far-right QAnon group that claimed a faction of Democrats operates a child abuse syndicate.
  • The Trump campaign has sent a series of personal attacks against Biden through social media, asking if his reasoning is declining.

Donald Trump Jr on Saturday reposted a meme on his Instagram account that accuses presidential contender Joe Biden of being a pedophile.

President Donald Trump’s first son, Trump Jr, who also stands in for his father, displayed Biden’s exchanging messages with an alligator, which contains both the words “alligator” and “pedophile.”

The New York Times first reported about Trump Jr’s social media post.

Following his IG post, Trump Jr later clarified via Twitter that he was only joking, as he included three laughing emojis along with the caption.

In this tweet, though, Trump Jr also added more implications in the original post by including a few of Biden’s pictures with young kids during White House events.

He went on to retweet several messages defending his allegation, including posts by conspiracy believer and pro-Trump agitator, Mike Cernovich.

To date, the 2020 presidential campaign is seemingly becoming one of the most antagonistic personal attacks between politicians. Trump’s campaign has launched a series of Facebook ads against Biden, claiming that his reasoning is declining.

In recent weeks, President Trump’s poll ratings have slowly declined, while Biden is enjoying a narrow lead in some significant states.

Meanwhile, Business Insider reported that there was no credible proof that Biden committed child abuse in the past.

Biden, however, has also been linked with claims of inappropriate behavior by some women, including the sexual assault accusation by former staffer Tara Reade.

The former vice president has consistently denied any claims of sexual abuse.

Trump Jr has repeatedly scattered theories, and slurs against this father’s political opponents, and according to research by media tracking organization, Media Matters for America, his claims are sometimes too risky even for Trump’s camp.

Trump Jr’s attacks also include reposting claims by the QAnon conspiracy theory group, which, even without a basis, said that that a faction of child-molesting Democrats and some Hollywood celebrities are behind many world events.

Around April, Trump Jr said that Hillary Clinton might have something to do with harming Jeffrey Epstein, the investor who committed suicide in a New York jail while awaiting trial for child trafficking accusations.

In June, he was criticized for tweeting, then removing a racist attack against California’s African American senator, Kamala Harris, who was then a nominee for the Democratic presidential selection.

The Trump campaign has yet to comment on whether it agrees with Trump Jr’s accusation against Biden.
