WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Four people were fatally shot at a Tusla medical facility early Wednesday evening.
  • Several others were injured with non-life threatening wounds.
  • The gunman was also dead in an apparent self-inflicted wound, police said.

Four people were shot and killed on Wednesday in a medical building on a Tulsa hospital campus in Oklahoma. Police said the gunman also shot himself.

Several others were injured and taken to hospitals with no life-threatening injuries, according toTulsa Police Department Capt. Richard Meulenberg.

The police have not yet identitied the victims and the shooter. The motive of the shooting is also undetermined as of this writing.

Officers responded around 5 p.m. local time on the campus of Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa Deputy Police Chief Eric Dalgleish told reporters, adding that they had contact with the gunman within the five minutes they arrived at the scene.

“I was very happy with what we know so far regarding the response of our officers,” Dalgleish noted.

Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum also thanked “the first responders who did not hesitate.”

The police’s response has now become an issue after the Uvalde elementary school shooting in Texas last week. The amount of time it took Uvalde police to engage the gunman has become a focus of the investigation. Officers reportedly waited over an hour to breach the classroom where 19 students and two teachers were killed.

According to Dalgleish, the Tulsa gunman was a Black around 35 to 40 years old and was carrying a long gun and a handgun.

The suspect was found at the second floor of the hospital’s Natalie Building.

“The officers that did arrive were hearing shots in the building, and that’s what directed them to the second floor,” Dalgleish said.

He said both weapons appeared to have been fired.

Officers also received information that there maybe a bomb that the gunman left in a residence in Muskogee, Oklahoma – about 50 miles southeast of Tulsa. CBS affiliate KOTV reported that a bomb squad found no explosives at the home after a search.

Family and friends of the victims were asked to go to Memorial High School, to wait to for the news about the fate of their loved ones.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt issued a statement calling the shooting a “senseless act of violence and hatred,” adding, “Sarah and I are praying for the families of those who lost their lives and for those who were injured.”

President Joe Biden had been briefed about the mass shooting, the White House said. The incident is being closely monitored and the White House had reached out to state and local officials to offer support, officials added.

David DAnna: “Whatever it takes” to save the greatest Nation on Earth from total Destruction toward which we are being led, will be worth it. The Oath is FIRST to the Constitution of the United States, and like the Constitution that defends our rights against federal tyranny, depends on us, as the Declaration of Independence states, to pledge “Our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor” to defend it.
