Trump calls for Biden’s resignation over Afghanistan crisis

  • Former President Donald Trump called for President Joe Biden “to resign in disgrace” over the crisis in Afghanistan.
  • Trump, who had arranged to withdraw troops by May 1 during his administration, slammed Biden’s decision to delay the troop pullout to Sept. 11.
  • The former president also criticized Biden for his handling of other issues, like the continuing surge of COVID-19 cases and the border crisis.

“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace,” Former President Donald Trump declared on Sunday, citing the crisis happening in Afghanistan.

The former president cited the following reasons warranting resignation: “…For what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy.”

Most of Afghanistan has been taken over by the Taliban. As their forces have already entered the capital city of Kabul, U.S. troops were sent to the embassy to help evacuate the staff.

Desperate residents flocked to the city’s airport on Sunday to try and flee the area.

During Trump’s administration, it was arranged that the U.S. troops were to be withdrawn from Afghanistan by May 1. The former president also considered withdrawing the troops earlier before he left office.

But President Biden set a much later date of complete withdrawal of U.S. troops on Sept. 11 — the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Trump slammed the decision and argued that Biden should keep the date “as close” as possible to his original goal of May 1.

Trump told supporters via email in April: “I made early withdraw possible by already pulling much of our billions of dollars of equipment out and, more importantly, reducing our military presence to less than 2,000 troops from the 16,000 level that was there (likewise in Iraq, and zero troops in Syria except for the area where we KEPT THE OIL).”

Biden also received criticism from other Republicans for his handling of the current crisis in Afghanistan.

The U.S. troop withdrawal was described as “an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions” by Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) on Sunday.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also told Fox News on Thursday that the current crisis wouldn’t have happened if Trump still headed the administration.

And what was Trump’s plan? Answer: HE DIDN’T HAVE ONE!!!!!
Any other response from Trump or Pompeo is absolute BS. Withdraw our equipment, how? Where was the plan? It didn’t Exist! According to Trump he was going to withdraw all Americans, all military equipment, Afghans that had supported the USA, and all our military (16000 by his count when actually there were only 3-5000 Actually there) – ALL OF THIS BY MAY 1st! There was NEVER sufficient airlift capability to handle even a small portion of
that and no such plan ever existed.
It took over 6 months to withdraw excess equipment from IRAQ after Desert Storm. Having worked for the Army agency responsible for such equipment withdrawals, Trump’s comments were absolute fantasy as is Pompeo’s comments.
Trump’s negotiations with the Taliban in 2020 were totally without any consultations with the sitting Afghan government ( who was going to be left holding the “bag” with the withdrawal)?!? ?
Nothing was started under Trump. Biden was handed no plans, nothing. It is not even surprising that the Taliban overran Afghanistan, only how fast it happened. Saying that Biden should resign over this failure, initiated by Trump, is pure political theater and further engrandsiment by Trump of his own Self-image. Shame on you – crystalclearnews -for continuing to support the failed Trump administration and continuing to support Trump and his false conspiracy theories. Your lack of any journalistic ethics is crystal clear.
