Trump demands appointment of ‘Special Master’ to oversee materials taken in raid [Video]

  • The FBI searched Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on Aug. 8 to reportedly recover classified documents allegedly taken by Trump before leaving office.
  • Trump’s legal team argued that the search is unconstitutional and that the government refused to give any breakdown of the items seized.
  • Trump has since filed a motion to halt the review of materials until a “Special Master” is appointed.

Former President Donald Trump has requested a U.S. federal court to block “further review” of materials seized from his Mar-a-Lago estate, pending the appointment of a “Special Master.”

In his latest court filing with the U.S. District Court’s Southern District of Florida, Trump seeks the following: the appointment of a special master, a suspension of the review of seized materials until a special master is appointed, a more detailed inventory of the items seized, and the return of all items “not within the scope” of the search warrant.

Around two dozen FBI agents searched Trump’s home in Palm Beach, Florida, on Aug. 8. Trump’s legal team condemned it as a “shockingly aggressive” political move against a possible presidential candidate.

The FBI reportedly executed the search on behalf of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to attempt to recover “privileged and/or potentially privileged documents” allegedly taken by Trump before leaving office. But they did not specify exactly what was taken.

Trump’s legal team accused the government of violating Fourth Amendment rights, which protect citizens from unreasonable searches of their residences, belongings, and documents. They said that the government has refused to provide “any reason” or “even the most basic information about what was taken, or why.”

Attorney General Merrick Garland has since confirmed that the DOJ filed a motion to unseal the search warrant.

Trump’s lawyers argued that the seized documents were created during Trump’s presidency, and are, therefore, “‘presumptively privileged’ until proven otherwise.” They added that a Special Master is the only one who can confirm and protect their “sanctity.”

After the filing, Trump detailed what happened during the raid on the Truth Social app. He said, “They demanded that the security cameras be turned off, a request we rightfully denied. They prevented my attorneys from observing what was being taken in the raid, saying ‘absolutely not.’”

He said that the agency also took his passports and “documents covered by attorney-client and executive privilege.” He added, “They even brought a ‘safe cracker’ and successfully broke into my personal safe, which revealed…nothing!”

“We are now demanding that the Department of ‘Justice’ be instructed to immediately STOP the review of documents illegally seized from my home,” Trump declared. “ALL documents have been previously declassified. We are demanding the appointment of a SPECIAL MASTER to oversee the handling of the materials taken in the raid.”

Trump argued that the search “was illegal and unconstitutional,” and demanded a “REAL” breakdown of what was taken and the current location of those materials.

Completely appalling to me that this government under Biden can do all the torturous things they are now doing. This last one, even to a former President takes the cake! Breaking into his own home without anyone being there is even more astonishing! This was not even the right protocol and they knew that too! This hurt the American people, definitely me for one, that this personal vendetta could be made as a political plot on President Trump! We know all the details, you know all the details, so there is no reason to keep up the injustices you are laying on him in such a mean manifestation at your pleasure! We expect to hear you reversal of this decision and let go of this investigation of cruelty! You fight with no integrity, we fight with constitutional rights, which is the right way?

Another way to spend the taxpayers money in a unlawful way to take away from the real issues that have tried to put blinders on the people of our country. Where will it end? Does anyone with authority have the ability to make a decision about what is right and what is wrong? It is sad that in the year 2022 we are making such stupid decisions as a number 1 nation. I think we have lost it, to bad for our nation, when the media can be told what to say and what not to say and they do it. We have already lost our freedom. It is sad to say the least.

None, repeat – None, of the items taken belong to Trump, including his personal notes. All of them, repeat – All of them, belong in the National Archives. Trump could be provided, on specific request, copies of items (other than classified) that he may deem personal. The ORIGINALS All belong to the National ARchives. This is Trump being Trump – Delay! – Obfuscation! – Delay! – the STANDARD Trump game plan to avoid any responsibility for anything. This is a totally NONSENSE legal challenge, – typical Trump!

So do all of the documents that Clinton and Obama have in their possession to THIS DAY yet there has been no raid on their private homes like they have done to President Trumps home. Why not?

The President has the power to declassify any and every document he chooses to, and President Trump did so on every one of these documents as shown in Documents that were probably seized as well.
