Trump: Give Madison Cawthorn ‘a second chance’ despite his ‘foolish mistakes’

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Rep. Madison Cawthorn in the GOP primary election in North Carolina despite being involved in a cascade of scandals that threaten the young lawmaker’s political career.
“When Madison was first elected to Congress, he did a great job,” Trump wrote in a message on Truth Social. “Recently, he made some foolish mistakes, which I don’t believe he’ll make again … let’s give Madison a second chance!”
Though Cawthorn received Trump’s support, the endorsement came somewhat lukewarm compared endorsement statements he’s made in recent days. The former president made a series of “Complete and Total” for other North Carolina Republicans, including Reps. Patrick McHenry, David Rouzer, Richard Hudson and Dan Bishop.
Trump didn’t elaborate on the freshman congressman’s shortcomings. In the weeks leading to the primary, Cawthorn has seemed to get involved in a new controversy every week.
Cawthorn was caught attempting to bring guns onto planes, potentially engaged in insider trading, and suggested that his Republican colleagues invited him to orgies and used cocaine. The most recent scandal was a nude video of him leaked by a rival PAC.
Trump’s endorsement comes just a day before North Carolina’s Tuesday primaries. Cawthorn faces a strong challenge from state Sen. Chuck Edwards, who has the backing of Republican Sen. Thom Tillis.
“I believe that people in the mountains are tired of the political rhetoric,” Edwards told Insider’s Camila deChalus in a recent interview. “They’re tired of the grandstanding and they’re looking for someone to go to Washington, DC, fight off the establishment, roll up their sleeves, and actually go to work.”
Some voters said they have grown tired of the 26-year-old congressman’s antics. His former campaign volunteers have even turned against the GOP lawmaker.
“He fooled the hell out of everybody,” Bruce Rose, a former campaign volunteer, told Insider. “I despise him … he is a criminal and a performer.”

Trump sometimes can be an ass. Trump sure knows how to pick-em. Trump backs a candidate that has sexual innuendoes in his closet, something Trump knows to all about, probably has as much in his closet as Trump. Trump picks another loser Cawthorn. 2nd chance or not, even though Cawthorn is not my district I am glad Cawthorn is being replaced by another Republican. Cawthorn did himself in. One doesn’t try and board an A/C with a gun in their carry on. Ignorance is no excuse to disobey the law, even morons that call themselves politicians. As a politician one should try and be squeaky clean, if not have anything in their closet that will turn voters off, so if photos surface of Cawthorn dressed in women’s clothes, the voting public is going to think there is something wrong with Cawthorn. In either case, whether it be Nebraska or North Carolina, voters will not look at them to kindly. It’s a good thing Trump doesn’t play the horses. Now let’s get back to Ted Budd endorsed by Trump, Another one that talks out of both sides of their mouth. Budd originally voted with the liberal commie Democrats not to fund the wall. The two Republicans vying for the Senate Spot from NC neither one of them belong in the Senate. NewsMax is just as biased as much as the fake news. The Fake news is biased for Liberal COMMIE NewsMax is biased for Conservatives and Republicans. Fox News is somewhere in the middle, they don’t know where there at. Here is a similarity. Budd is just as corrupt as Quid Pro King Joe. FBI Director Wray sat on Hunters Laptop for over a year. if the voters knew about Hunters laptop being true and not Russian disinformation they wouldn’t have voted for Corrupt Quid Pro. fast forward. Ted Budd and his father had a company that cheated the farmers out of 10 million dollars, and then filed bankruptcy. Daddy claims Ted, wasn’t involved, B.S. like corrupt Quid Pro wasn’t involved with Hunter. It’s a father and son deal. Budd captured 50% of the vote. Does anyone think he would have captured 50% of the vote if they knew the Budd family cheated farmers out of 10 million dollars. Where is the Federal investigation into Budd and family. When Obama was president they forked over 500 million in stimulus money to a solar company called Solyndra. right after they received the 1/2 billion in stimulus money, Solyndra filed Bankruptcy, see the pattern. Now all of a sudden Budd has found G-d and is for MAGA. previously he voted against the wall. Politicians will say anything to get elected. Trump has a hobbit of lying in bed w/his enemies, Trump has horse blinders on. Trump will have to excuse me for sitting out the midterms. Had I known about Budd cheating farmers out of 10 million Dollars, I wouldn’t have voted for Budd in the primary. I certainly won’t vote for Budd in the actual election . No one should be mesmerized by Trump, especially if Trump is unavailable in 2024. Any good republican with 1/2 brain can p/u where Trump left off. It doesn’t take Trump to secure the Southern Border, make America energy independent, or get the economy back on track. trump isn’t the only one that can do this. Either way if Trump is out of the running the the liberal commie Democrats are still going down in 2022/2024.
