President Donald Trump told the press this week that inquiries about disgraceful financier Jeffrey Epstein should not focus on him, but rather on well-known Democrat figures. Trump stated, “You ought to be speaking about Larry Summers. You ought to be speaking about some of his friends that are hedge fund guys. They’re all over the place. You ought to be speaking about Bill Clinton.”
He departed for Scotland while making these remarks, and continued to highlight past associations between Bill Clinton and Jeffrey Epstein. Trump added that people should specifically be asking about Clinton’s visits to Epstein’s private island, infamously linked to criminal activity. “I’ve never visited the island before,” Trump clarified. Clinton himself has denied visiting the island in a recent memoir, stating, “I wish I had never even met Epstein in the first place.”
Requests for comment were reportedly not returned by representatives for Summers and Clinton. Summers, notable for his roles under Presidents Clinton and Obama, has drawn criticism from conservatives for his high-level government service during turbulent times.
The Department of Justice and FBI have decided in July to close their review into Epstein’s sex trafficking scandal, sparking outrage among citizens concerned about accountability. The agencies stated no new charges are forthcoming, and they did not find a list of previously unknown abusers connected to Epstein.
Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s convicted accomplice who is serving a 20-year sentence, recently met with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in Florida. Blanche said, “Today, I met with Ghislaine Maxwell, and I will continue my interview of her tomorrow. The Department of Justice will share additional information about what we learned at the appropriate time.”
Trump addressed lingering curiosity about the Epstein case, stating, “He’s dead for a long time. He was never a big factor in terms of life. I don’t understand what the interest or what the fascination is. I really don’t, and the credible information’s been given.”
Multiple photographs and news reports continue to surface, showing ties between major political and social figures and Epstein from decades past. Still, the current administration maintains that all available facts have been made public, and conservatives continue to push for transparency and accountability as promised under traditional American values.
