President Joe Biden signed a $1.7 trillion government spending bill on Thursday, preventing a government shutdown. The bill includes additional military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine and funding for his domestic priorities.

The bill “caps off a year of historic bipartisan progress for the American people,” the White House said Thursday.

The White House enumerated that the funding will be used to advance cutting-edge research on cancer and other diseases, make communities safer, care for veterans, prioritize mental health care, improve access to high-quality health care for Indian country, and strengthen worker protections for pregnant women.”

“It also provides the resources needed to support Ukraine, provides the highest funding level for the Violence Against Women Act in history, and takes long overdue action to shore up our democracy and preserve the will of the people by reforming the Electoral Count Act.”

Biden signed the bill in St. Croix, where he is spending the New Year’s holiday with his family, after spending Christmas at the White House. The bill was delivered to the president for his signature late Wednesday afternoon on a regularly scheduled commercial flight, according to The White House.

Last week, the Senate and House of Representatives passed the bill after negotiations, a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before Congress pleading for more funding to “guarantee the future of our common freedom.” The bill funding will provide an additional $45 billion in emergency assistance for the war-stricken country.

The spending bill includes $772.5 billion for domestic priorities and $858 billion for defense. It also includes about $40 billion in disaster relief for communities recovering from hurricanes, wildfires, drought and other natural disasters. It also includes reforms to the Electoral Count Act, and a ban of the use of TikTok on government phones, among a slew of other projects for lawmakers.

what is the purpose of funding this Government except for money laundering, bribery, curry favors, influence peddling, pay offs. rob the middle class of even more. I will not comply. I quit. Why would I quit? Illegal aliens who break Federal laws and become felons, are encouraged by our Government. They get free medical care, free food, free housing. Why should anyone work for a living ? Just give up US citizenship and reap the rewards of free everything and all you want. Funding Ukraine war that has absolutely nothing to do w/the US, but I suspect something to do w/Hunter Biden cover up.Same goes for little Taiwan. Another Biden payoff to protect Hunter ? Stupid ‘crack head’ Yup. I quit. Dhu Mhan Yhu, Biden.

Incredibly well written and “spot-on” accurate post. Thank you for stating this Government BS and criminally negligent behavior! The Bear.
