  • Joe Biden repeatedly offered to testify at his son Hunter Biden’s federal gun trial in June 2024, despite his busy schedule.
  • Hunter Biden was charged and convicted on three counts related to his acquisition of a Colt Cobra revolver in 2018.
  • Joe Biden issued a rare public statement expressing his love and support for his son during the trial.

In a striking revelation from a new book, former President Joe Biden reportedly made multiple offers to testify in his son Hunter Biden’s federal gun trial. This was despite the demands of his international commitments and an impending presidential debate. The book, “Original Sin” by Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper, draws from over 200 interviews, primarily with Democratic insiders, and suggests that Biden was eager to stand by his son in court.

“The weekend before the trial began, Biden again offered to testify or come to court, despite his packed schedule,” the authors reveal. The trial in question stemmed from charges brought against Hunter Biden by Special Counsel David Weiss in September 2023. Hunter faced accusations of acquiring a Colt Cobra revolver in October 2018 while battling drug addiction and making false statements on the purchase document. The jury ultimately found Hunter guilty on all three counts, leading to a conviction.

Behind the scenes, it wasn’t just Joe Biden offering support. Former First Lady Jill Biden also expressed her willingness to testify on Hunter’s behalf. However, as the book notes, her testimony was deemed less useful since she had not witnessed much of Hunter’s struggles with addiction in 2018.

In a rare public statement, Joe Biden articulated his dual roles as both a father and a former president.
“I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today,” he stated.
“Hunter’s resilience in the face of adversity and the strength he has brought to his recovery are inspiring to us. As the President, I don’t and won’t comment on pending federal cases, but as a Dad, I have boundless love for my son, confidence in him, and respect for his strength.”

The book also delves into Biden’s health challenges during his presidency, including a diagnosis of an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer. This diagnosis reportedly came after aides considered using a wheelchair for him post-election, adding another layer of complexity to his tenure. Experts suggest that the cancer likely developed over several years, indicating that Biden may have had it while still in office.

This is more crock than one person can stand in one day. The fact is he was not allowed because of his diminished mental capacity. He would have made a fool of himself in court.
