Gov. Abbott says Texas may challenge free education for migrant children [Video]

Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that Texas may challenge a Supreme Court ruling that requires U.S. states to offer free public education to all children, including kids of undocumented immigrants.
“Texas already long ago sued the federal government about having to incur the costs of the education program, in a case called Plyler versus Doe,” Abbott said on “The Joe Pags Show.”
“The Supreme Court ruled against us on the issue about denying, or let’s say Texas having to bear that burden,” the Republican governor added.
Plyler v. Doe is a 1982 Supreme Court case that struck down the denial of public education funding for undocumented immigrant children in the United States.
“I think we will resurrect that case and challenge this issue again, because the expenses are extraordinary and the times are different than when Plyler versus Doe was issued many decades ago,” Abbott said.
Abbott has also been vocal in his opposition to the Biden administration’s decision to end Title 42. The public health rule is the most sweeping border restriction enacted by former President Donald Trump. It was used since 2020 to curb the spread of Covid-19 by preventing immigrants from crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
Last month, Abbott sent a bus full of immigrants to Washington, D.C. The White House, however, called it a ‘publicity stunt.’
Abbott temporarily strengthens border inspections for trucks coming from Mexico which created logjams. Mexican governors promised to ramp up security measures on their side of the border to clear the logjams.
Abbott is running for reelection in November
The governor’s remarks come just days after the leaked draft opinion revealed that the Supreme Court is poised to overturn its previous Roe v. Wade decision. The case legally protected abortion rights.
The incident has sparked protests from some activists and advocates who question what other Supreme Court decisions on basic rights could be overruled in the future.

There is no mention of abortion rights on the Constitution. SCOTUS is merely ruling on the constitutionality of a previous erroneous ruling. Judicial Branch makes no law. Abortion is murder and the fed will rightfully end the practice of funding heinous murder of unborn children. Murder is not a right. Tacpayers should not be forced to pay for the lack of self-control of others.
Furthermore, the US is not responsible for educating the children of ILLEGAL ALIENS (they’re here illegally,not undocumented immigrants) That, like Roe, was unconstitutional.

If you’re not responsible enough to take or use birth control, why should the tax paying public have to shell out their hard earned tax dollars to pay for your irresponsible sex!
You talk about woman’s rights, what about the tax payers rights?

Now about free education for illegals, BS! Go back to where ever you came from and get your free education there, we pay way more for taxes now then we should and it just not free education, it’s free housing, free heat or a/c free food free phone and the one that really gets me is social security! It’s was meant to be if you put in, you can take out, but all these illegals shouldn’t get it because they didn’t put in,so they don’t get to take out! It was made for hard working Americans who put money into social security, not free loaders!!!

NO! We should not have to pay for free education for illegals! They are here ILLEGALLY, it isn’t the kids’ fault, it is on their parents who chose to bring or send them illegally! Get real! They enter illegally and grab all the freebies they can, demanding “ their rights”, which they do not have! Send all of them back, close the border, get REAL immigration reform done, then ONLY legal entrants get free education, IF they gain legal citizenship!

I agree with comment above, murder of an innocent unborn child fails being a constitutional right. I fully support this case. No state should bear the cost of education for illegal aliens of school age. They should be DEPORTED!

That’s not the only issue that needs to be challenged. These countries that are south of Mexico are exporting their poverty to the U.S. America doesn’t address it’s own poverty problems here in the U.S. but somehow has the money to take care of another countries problems. That also goes for the Ukraine, corrupt Quid Pro is concerned with the Democracy of the Ukraine and it’s borders , while ignoring America’s Southern border. It’s okay for lying Corrupt Quid Pro King Joe address the Ukraine, just as long as he addresses our own Democracy and America’s Southern Border. The illegals coming over here and are coming for one reason, they expect the U.S. to take care of them. They offer nothing in return. There are no brain surgeons, scientist’s, engineers, teachers etc., coming across the border. The liberal commie Democrats want as many illegals into the country ASAP. The Democrats are gaming the system that they corrupted. Change the voting demographics of the U.S. tilted towards Democrats forever. Give them lots of welfare, a roof over their head, free medical and an education, give them amnesty and eventually voting rights, and all they have to do to keep their benefits is to vote Democrat, there is your one party rule. The American Taxpayer will be subsidizing Democrat votes.
