Governors Dare Border Czar to Arrest Them

Clear Facts
- Governors Kathy Hochul and J.B. Pritzker challenged Tom Homan to arrest them for obstructing federal actions, while Tim Walz avoided the topic.
- Homan mentioned that officials could face prosecution for obstructing federal agents, but denied outright threatening arrests.
- California Governor Gavin Newsom also dared Homan to arrest him, criticizing the Trump administration’s approach.
In a bold display of defiance, Democrat Governors Kathy Hochul of New York and J.B. Pritzker of Illinois have openly challenged border czar Tom Homan to arrest them. This daring stance comes in response to Homan’s comments about potential prosecution for government officials who obstruct federal agents, particularly in the wake of riots in Los Angeles against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
Kathy Hochul, speaking during a House Oversight Committee hearing, declared, “If Tom Homan comes to Albany [New York] to arrest me, I’ll say ‘go for it.’ You can’t intimidate a governor.” She emphasized the importance of defending the rights and safety of residents, stating that any threat to their responsibilities is “an assault on our democracy.”
J.B. Pritzker echoed this sentiment, expressing his commitment to protecting his state’s citizens. “I can say first of all that he can try,” Pritzker remarked, referring to Homan’s potential arrest attempt. He added, “I’d rather that he came and arrested me than do that to the people of my state.”
In contrast, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz took a more diplomatic approach, sidestepping the hypothetical arrest scenario. He stressed the need for collaboration between governors and Congress to address crime, noting, “Threatening arrest on elected officials, congressman, it doesn’t help any of us.”
The controversy follows Homan’s comments, where he was reported to have threatened arrest against California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Homan later refuted this interpretation, clarifying that he had not explicitly threatened any arrests.
Governor Gavin Newsom, however, was undeterred by the alleged threat, daring Homan to arrest him. “Come after me, arrest me. Let’s just get it over with, tough guy,” Newsom challenged, criticizing the Trump administration’s rhetoric as “bloviating.”
Former President Donald Trump weighed in, suggesting that Homan should indeed arrest Newsom, labeling the California governor as “grossly incompetent” despite calling him a “nice guy.”

That’s right, these are ILLEGALs who have entered this country ILLEGALLY. They should be arrested and tried as illegals. Those who support their illegal attempts to be citizens, should be arrested and jailed as well. Being in this country does not equate as being a citizen. So, arrest the governors and representatives who are trying to play like they are citizens. Bottom line: these illegals are INVADERS.

Agree with the previous three comments. They all should be arrested. The illegal people put a burden on all taxpayers.

The editor of this article should be fired! They appear to be too incompetent to know that Donald Trump is the President, not just the former president!! Elections have consequences, one being that the winner deserves to be called the President. What is wrong with these people?

you just cannot fix stupid-and I would take them up on the challenge. All of the nit wit governors who have laid down the gauntlet need to be shown who is control. Oh yes, put them in jails where the illegals and gang members are. They are no better than the illegals. Show them what breaking the law means!! No sympathy here. Lock the idiots up
