In a significant move for the Trump administration, the Senate has confirmed Whitney Hermandorfer to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. This marks the first judicial appointment of President Trump’s second term, with Hermandorfer replacing a judge appointed by former President Barack Obama.
The confirmation vote, which occurred along party lines, is part of a broader effort by Senate Republicans to swiftly confirm Trump’s judicial nominees.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Our job now is to continue the good work that we began during the first Trump administration by filling those vacancies with more judges who understand the proper role of a judge.”
Hermandorfer brings a wealth of experience to the bench, having previously clerked for Supreme Court justices Samuel Alito and Amy Coney Barrett. She also clerked for Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his time on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
In addition to her judicial clerkships, Hermandorfer has been actively involved in strategic litigation efforts within the office of Republican Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti. Skrmetti recently celebrated a Supreme Court victory upholding Tennessee’s ban on child sex change procedures.
President Trump has praised Hermandorfer as a “staunch defender of Girls’ and Women’s Sports,” highlighting her commitment to conservative values.
Despite the support from Republicans, Senate Democrats have been vocal in their opposition to Hermandorfer’s confirmation. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer criticized her as “unqualified to serve on the bench,” citing her career focus on issues such as reproductive rights and anti-discrimination policies.
“She has made a career out of going after people’s reproductive rights, their transgender rights and anti-discrimination policies,” Schumer stated during a floor speech.
The confirmation of Hermandorfer is part of a larger trend, as the Senate has processed 92 of Trump’s civilian nominees so far, nearly doubling the pace of confirmations compared to his first term.
With roughly 50 judicial vacancies still on the federal bench, Senate Republicans, led by Thune and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, are committed to expediting the nomination process.

Get rid of all federal judges appointed by a demonRAT. What is really sad is that most people don’t bother to vote in elections that are not BIG ELECTIONS. They don’t bother to vote for judges at all. The demonRATS found how important elections for lower court judges really is. That is why there are so many activist/rogue judges roaming the streets. These reprobates are the ones that have been wreaking havoc on Trump for many years now.

If the democrats are opposed to her, that means she is more than qualified for the job. Actually, she could be dumber than a fence post and still be more qualified than any of the current crop of obammy/bidet appointments.
