Biden signs executive order making police misconduct records public

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • President Joe Biden signed an executive order on police reform on Wednesday.
  • Biden unveiled the new order on the second anniversary of George Floyd’s murder.
  • The order aims to reform federal police practices and make police misconduct records public.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday signed an executive order on police reform, two years after the death of George Floyd.

The order aims to establish a national database of officers fired for misconduct and encourages state and local police to tighten restrictions on chokeholds and so-called ‘no-knock’ warrants. The executive order also restricts the transfer of military equipment to law enforcement agencies and requires all federal agents to wear operative body cameras.

Last year, the White House started doing its own action after the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act — a more comprehensive police reform legislation — failed to obtain bipartisan support. Biden renewed his call to Congress to take action before signing the order.

“I know progress can be slow and frustrating, and there’s a concern that the reckoning on race inspired two years ago is beginning to fade,” Biden said.

“Today, we’re acting. We’re showing that speaking out matters, being engaged matters, and that the work of our time, healing the soul of this nation, is ongoing and unfinished and requires all of us never to give up. Always to keep the faith.”

Wednesday’s event was overshadowed by the Texas school shooting that happened the day before. Biden also asked Congress again to act on gun reform legislation.

“And we must ask, when in God’s name will we do what needs to be done?” Biden said. “I’m sick and tired. I’m just sick and tired of what’s going on and continues to go on.”

Floyd’s family was present at the White House during the signing. The families of other Black people killed by police in recent years — Breonna Taylor, Amir Locke, Atatiana Jefferson, and Elijah McClain — were also in attendance.

The new executive order requires law enforcement to intervene when they see the use of excessive force and administer medical aid to those who need it.

The president, however, cannot directly issue mandates to state and local law enforcement agencies. But, senior Biden administration officials said attorneys general should use their power to award grants that promote and support agencies in getting accredited or those that want to adopt such policies but could use some federal help, NBC News reported.

In September, the Department of Justice restricted the use of chokeholds and “no-knock” warrants for the department’s law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Marshals Service.

This solely political move on Bidet’s part is essentially a play from the Nazi Machine designed to turn law enforcement officers against one another. Bidet panders to the Left, BLM, Communist, Fascist regimes for political party gain. Bidet is and has always been a racist to his very core and he does not care about the Black populace of this country. Bidet is attempting to garner favor from Black voters before the mid-term elections that have been forecast as a looming “bloodbath” for the DemocRATic party. Bidet could also be observed creepily and inappropriately touching that poor little girl (whom looked very uncomfortable), why can’t this dementia ridden pervert keep his hands off of children? fjb

The next Congress after the midterms needs to seriously think about limiting the powers of Executive Orders. If Lying Corrupt Quid Pro KING Joe veto’s the bill, over ride the Veto. Corrupt Quid Pro has become a dictator in his own right. let’s open up for a matter of record for the public to see on the Corruption of the Joe Biden Crime Family. Corrupt Quid Pro has to be the biggest f/in a—–e on the planet.

Most people agree that George Floyd was a good for nothing criminal that ultimately created his own demise.
It really makes me sick that the Biden Obama administration continues to call George Floyd’s death a murder, and still politicizing a continuous effort to push the ridiculous radical BLM movement.
Most people in this country still want to see the film footage that the liberal conniving democrat news media covered up. Lets not forget the missing film footage!
Most people still believe George Floyd kicked the cop in the nuts to get away, and the liberal democrat blm movement covered it up
Most people still consider George Floyd a despicable counterfeiting drug addict that died of an overdose, and Obama was behind all the property damage caused by his scumbag radical tramps. (BLM)
George Floyd’s death was not a murder!
That criminal POS made the mistake of playing rough, and he died from drug complications while being held down while the cop was trying to recover from getting kicked it the nuts.

“Qualified immunity” is a bill he should be signing to ELIMINATE it. It protects crooked cops and politicians from prosecution. So why doesn’t congress do something about “Qualified immunity”? … Because it unjustly protects them and the cops.

Guess cops as 2nd class citizens already suffer when they are prosecuted by the federal government a second time, when found not guilty of an offense. YOU CITIZENS CAN ONLY BE TRIED ONCE…HOW ABOUT A LAW FOR POLICE.
      QUANTIFIABLE??

What really upset me with Biden and his incompetence is that he is such a reactor. This Texas massacre was horrific-however what makes is worse is the stupidity going on.! yes this person was most likely mentally ill or could he have been just full of hate for everything, after all he shot his Grandmother, which tells me he did not get his way about something he wanted!! Let’s not belittle the police about what should have, could or would have been done–we were not there. The thing that makes me want to “puke” is all the news commentators that know everything-they were not there either. Or this Beto O’Rourke spouting off about gun control. The gun did not go off by it’s self–some person pulled the trigger-Did you hear that Beto–I am sure there are guns in a lot of homes that have never shot someone-because guns are not the problem-people full of hate are the problem!! I just want to “puke” every time Chuck Schumer get in front of a mike-he is old and just not with it anymore. Let’s let the people of Texas heal — people do the best they can–give them credit where credit is due and quite trying to be a hero for trying to analyze what happened–you don’t know!

Since there is little we or the Doctors can do about the Crazies, we must increase the risk for the peripheral people who could have done something and didn’t. While there are too few “mandatory reporters’ (those who must report under penalty of law), there should be more. Referring more to the last incident in Buffalo, Psych evaluation was over in two days. No one can tell me after reading the 180 page manifesto, that this kid should have been released. There were also teachers and others who could have added to a “red flag notice” on him. They, after a thorough investigation, should be held responsible as abettors before the fact. Lawyers will interfere with this but by increasing the risk to the “bystander” we may get more advance information. This will take a while to implement; let’s get started.

George Floyd was NOT, repeat NOT murdered! He died of a drug overdose and a really bad, unhealthy lifestyle. We need to stop these dcrap (Democrat) assaults on our law enforcement officers. Officer Chauvins prosecution was a politically motivated dcrap hit job to stump for votes. The dcraps know if they lose just 20% of the black vote they will never win another election (even with the massive fraud they commit at every election). Police officers are NOT killing black people! 93% of all black homicides are committed by other blacks! White people are not killing black people. Black on white crime is MANY, MANY times higher than white on black. Wake up people! They are lying to you!!!

I wonder what the police were thinking in the school shooting the other day, I am sure they were wanting to go in but perhaps they were talking thru the ramifications about how it would destroy their and their families lives if by accident someone other than the gunman died hell I look for the police involved to have to face lawsuits from the assholes families.
I cannot blame the police for thinking long and hard at what they will go thru everytime they have to confront a lawbreaker.
when seconds count you have to wonder if the police will start thinking it just ain’t worth it to get involved thanks to the dimorats standing up much more for the lawbreakers that law enforcement
    FJB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes , George Floyd’s death should never happened BUT IT DID, he was responsible for his actions . His actions did justify police actions and the response by elected officials only compounded the problem for racial divide and the rise of the BLM organization who extorted money for personnel benefit ( purchasing multiple mansions) . Tell me where new laws will do anymore than neglected existing laws. Screamed for your legal system to do and uphold THE LAW.
