WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • According to The Hollywood Reporter, late actor Chadwick Boseman thought he was already getting rid of his cancer.
  • Marvel Studios was only informed of the Black Panther star’s health condition on the day of his passing.
  • Aside from Boseman’s family, only a few people knew about his battle against cancer.

Aside from the public, Marvel Studios, a Disney-owned company, was also not aware of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman’s battle with cancer.

Boseman died last week due to colon cancer, according to a statement released by his family on Friday.

After his death, The Hollywood Reporter shared new details about the actor’s private battle with his ailment.

Based on the outlet, nobody from Marvel knew the real health condition of Boseman. Kevin Feige, the company’s studio head, only received little information about the actor’s condition about an hour before he passed away.

Boseman was already dead when Feige read the email message.

A close person with the actor told THR that Boseman thought he was already winning the battle against cancer. He was already planning to prepare this month for the Black Panther II movie.

Boseman reportedly only knew the severity of his situation about a week or so prior to his passing.

Aside from his family, only a few people were told about Boseman’s cancer diagnosis. These include his producing partner Logan Coles, “42” movie director Brian Helgeland, his agent, and trainer.

Instead of developing new plans about Black Panther II and other appearances for King T’Challa (Boseman’s character), Disney said that they would concentrate on giving a tribute to the late star.

Aside from the Black Panther movie, Boseman also filmed other Marvel movies such as Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. He also starred in non-Marvel films like 21 Bridges and Netflix’s Spike Lee joint Da 5 Bloods.

Fox News has already reached out to Disney for comment but did not get an immediate response.
