Clear Facts

  • A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began at noon local time, signaling a potential end to over two years of conflict.
  • The agreement includes the destruction of Hamas terror tunnels and a phased Israeli troop withdrawal.
  • Hamas has 72 hours to release all remaining hostages, as monitored by U.S. officials deployed to Israel.

Israel and Hamas entered a ceasefire, with Israeli withdrawal marking progress toward returning hostages home.

Military authorities stated that Israel has re-deployed its troops according to updated deployment lines to comply with the deal.

“Following the political echelon’s instructions and due to the situational assessment, the IDF has begun operational preparations ahead of the implementation of the agreement. As part of this process, preparations and a combat protocol are underway to transition to adjusted deployment lines soon. The IDF continues to be deployed in the area and prepared for any operational development,” the Israel Defense Forces wrote on X.

The agreement still leaves Israel controlling more than half of Gaza as the next phase approaches.

IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee warned Palestinians against entering certain areas, citing ongoing danger particularly in northern Gaza, Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahiya, and Shejaiya, as well as at the Rafah Crossing and Philadelphi Corridor.

“Do not move toward Israeli territory, and do not approach the security zone. Approaching the security zone is extremely dangerous. For your safety, do not begin moving to these areas until official approval has been granted,” Adraee stated.

Hamas now faces a 72-hour deadline to return all living and deceased hostages, including Americans.

The United States confirmed that, while it will not send troops into Gaza, 200 U.S. personnel will support ceasefire oversight and assist with humanitarian needs in Israel.

President Donald Trump expressed optimism that hostages will be home soon and plans to travel to the Middle East for the agreement’s signing.

“We secured the release of all of the remaining hostages, and they should be released on Monday or Tuesday,” Trump said. He added, “The day the hostages return will be a day of joy.”

As hostages’ families anticipate reunions, American values of peace, strength, and commitment remain at the forefront throughout this delicate negotiation.
