Disney World unveils inclusion of Joe Biden at Hall of Presidents attraction

• Walt Disney has unveiled its newest member at the Hall of Presidents attraction: Joe Biden’s animatronic.
• Disney’s editorial content director Thomas Smith said that Biden’s animatronic will deliver “the presidential oath of office recorded at the White House.”
• The attraction is set to reopen in August.

As one of Disney World’s Magic Kingdom attractions, the Hall of Presidents is expected to reopen since its operation was halted in January following renovations. The attraction will now feature President Joe Biden’s animatronic.

Disney unveiled the first photo of the new figure inducted at their hall. Biden’s animatronic is set to debut this coming August as the attraction becomes available again to the public, a Disney Parks blog post said Monday.

The newly-featured figure looked identical to Biden himself, as it wore a navy suit and a red-and-blue striped tie. Beside him would be a blue table with props such as aviator sunglasses and a flower vase with peach blossoms that represent Delaware, the president’s home state. 

In the post, Disney’s editorial content director Thomas Smith said that the animatronic will feature “the presidential oath of office recorded at the White House.”

Previously, Disney World placed a Donald Trump figure between December 2017 and January this year. Many people, though, asserted that Trump should be put behind the other presidents or be totally removed from the attraction upon his exit at the White House.

Others have also raised the idea of totally replacing the Hall of Presidents with another attraction. Based on a previous report by the Orlando Sentinel, there had been pressure in recent years ever since the animatronics of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Trump were included.

Disney World had to put metal spikes before the animatronics as well as place security guards on standby near the attraction to address any potential hostile event.

In the blog post, Smith noted that the Trump figure would “take its place on stage among those who have previously served.”
