Tom Homan, the former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has once again brought attention to the devastating impact of MS-13 gangs on immigrant communities. Homan emphasized that these gangs, particularly MS-13 and Tren de Agua (TdA), are inflicting severe harm on the very communities Democrats claim to protect.

Homan expressed his frustration with Democrats who have shown support for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 member who entered the U.S. illegally. Despite the gang’s notorious reputation for violence, some Democratic lawmakers have gone as far as traveling to El Salvador to visit Garcia.

“I knew that [on] day one of the inauguration that we’re gonna be fighting the courts and we’ll be fighting the Democrats, we’d be fighting the NGOs, the activists, we knew the fight was coming and we’re gonna take that fight on,” Homan stated.

He further elaborated on the gruesome acts committed by these gangs, saying, “I’ve seen the horrific things they have done not only to American citizens, but aliens that live here. I’ve seen their capability. They are animals.”

The brutality of MS-13 and TdA is well-documented, with heinous acts such as beheadings and dismemberments frequently reported. One particularly shocking incident involved MS-13 members in Wheaton, Maryland, who beheaded a man and ripped his heart out after stabbing him over 100 times.

In another tragic case, two Venezuelan nationals, reportedly members of TdA, strangled a 12-year-old girl in Houston, Texas, before discarding her body in a river.

Despite these atrocities, some Democrats have continued to support Garcia, even accusing the Trump administration of deporting him without due process. This has led to a contentious legal battle, with U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis ordering Garcia’s return to the U.S., a decision temporarily blocked by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

The Supreme Court later ruled that the administration must “facilitate” Garcia’s return, but El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has refused to cooperate, stating he will not “smuggle” Garcia back into the U.S.

Garcia’s criminal history, including smuggling people into the U.S. and having ties with MS-13, raises serious concerns about the Democratic support he has received. Despite a deportation order in 2019, Garcia was granted “withholding of removal” due to fears of persecution by gangs if returned to El Salvador.

Homan’s remarks serve as a stark reminder of the real victims of gang violence—immigrant communities who suffer the most from these brutal acts.
