GOP senator says Jan. 6 committee hearings dented Trump’s 2024 prospects

Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania suggested Thursday that the Jan. 6 House select committee’s public hearings had hurt former President Donald Trump politically, even among Republicans.
The Republican senator was interviewed by Bloomberg on wide-ranging topics, including the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on the Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Reserve’s approach to tackling inflation. At the end of the interview, Toomey was asked whether he believed the Jan. 6 committee hearings would prevent Trump from seeking reelection in 2024.
“I don’t know that it means that. I mean he gets to decide whether he’s going to run,” Toomey replied. The senator was was among seven GOP senators who voted to convict Trump on a charge of incitement of an insurrection after the Capitol riot.
“Look, I think he disqualified himself from serving in public office by virtue of his post-election behavior, especially leading right up to January 6,” the senator said. “I think the revelations from this committee make his path to even the Republican nomination much more tenuous.”
On. Tuesday, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House staffer, testified before the committee that Trump was aware the crowd on the National Mall on January 6, 2021, was armed. She also talked about the time the former president threw dishes and flipped tablecloths due to anger. She claimed that Trump tried to grab the steering wheel of his presidential limo when he learned that he wasn’t being taken to the Capitol on that day. Hutchinson said both Mark Meadows and Rudy Giuliani sought pardons from Trump in the final days of his administration.
Trump’s inner circle told Insider that Hutchinson’s testimony was “definitely the most damning day” of all the committee’s hearings and that her claims were “real difficult to dismiss.”
Toomey also suggested that though Trump is still seen by most Republicans as the undisputed GOP leader and a sure candidate for the 2024 nomination, he thinks his party will have a stronger candidate than the former president.
“You know, never say never — and he decides whether to throw his hat in the ring — but I think we’ll have a stronger candidate,” Toomey said.

The reality is that milion of voters will not accept any other republican candidate unless Mr. Trump specifically will endorse that candidate for the 2024 election. If that does not happen neither the republican part will have a chance to the WH

that about sums it up. \first of all this is a one sided media circus and most of us republicans with brains at least a half of one can see that. \we see this J6 event for what it is. we still intend to vote for Trump and not biden. There was only discussions from the left and not good ones at that. One lady purgured herself. The film they demonstated was shown at the impeachment trial for the same matter. IF at once you don[t succeed……. I guess double jeopardy does not apply ever. See this circus for what it is and count the media lies as they are continually told.

Old Pat might want to go home and see if he can clean up the mess in PA. After all it was PA courts that changed the voting rules only days before the election not legal, and magically PA voted for Biden. It will be real interesting to see who will put there hat in the race after the mid-terms. I don’t think the the Jan 6 committee will have that much effect on President Trump’s chances. The average American knows it’s a shit show. We all where living a-lot better during President Trumps term in office than what the Dem’s have given us. High cost of living and nothing but lies at every turn. Ronald Regan once asked are you better off today than yesterday, and I can assure you the people will answer that question again. I have always said this Americans will vote on their wallet, and that certainly is going to be the case over the next two years.

Toomy and Hutchinson have showed that neither of them are Republicans. They are both communist traitors (Democrats). If Toolie believes that the chances of Trumps nomination for 2024 are effected, the sham committee has accomplished what they intended, because they new that there was no insurrection. And the statement about Trump knowing the crowed was armed was such a crock of shit lie that even the Democrats know it is a lie. It has already been proven there was no insurrection and that the crowd was not armed. This is just more action from the True Insurrectionists that put the puppet SlowJoe in the white house. Considering the Democrat led Obama-Biden Administrations have promoted and instigated national riots that have killed dozens of innocent people, and their administrations continue to instigate more riots and chaos is enough to persuade everybody I know to vote Republican. The Democrats position on indoctrinating this country’s public schools with homosexual perversion and transexual insanity is the next major persuading factor that everybody I know will vote Republican. This county’s children are it’s future, and it can’t become insane and still survive! So Pat Toomy, I really don’t think it matters who the Republicans choose to run in the presidential election, the democrats insanity is destroying itself for re-election. Considering Donald Trump had this country headed back in the right direction after Obama caused all the same issues Biden is causing right now, I think Donald Trump has a really good chance at re-election, and if Trump decides to persuade Desantis to run for the position, half the Democrats and all the Republicans and all the Independents will vote Republican.
