Sen. Ron Johnson was caught on camera admitting that “there was nothing obviously skewed” about the 2020 presidential election results in Wisconsin.

Liberal activist Lauren Windsor of The Undercurrent interviewed the GOP senator while posing as a Conservative at a Republican event held Sunday. On Tuesday, she posted a clip of their exchange on Twitter.

In the video, Johnson explained that “The only reason Trump lost Wisconsin is 51,000 Republican voters didn’t vote for him.”

He told Windsor that Republicans collectively received more votes in races for other offices.

“If all the Republicans voted for Trump the way they voted for the Assembly candidates, he would have won. He didn’t get 51,000 votes that other Republicans got, and that’s why he lost,” Johnson argued.

When asked if President Joe Biden “won the state fair and square,” the senator replied, “it’s certainly plausible, there’s nothing obviously skewed about the results.”

Sen. Johnson is one of former President Donald Trump’s biggest supporters when it comes to claims about election fraud.

In a statement to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Johnson said his comments in the video were “consistent with what [he’s] been saying publicly on the 2020 election” and that there was “no need for hidden cameras and secret recordings.”

“Ever since the Electoral College met, I acknowledged that former Vice President Joe Biden was the president-elect and repeatedly said I could not envision any scenario where Biden electors would be rejected,” Johnson said in the statement.

Though Johnson acknowledged Biden had won the presidency, he believed questions raised by voters should be explored and a “forensic audit” in his home state is needed. He initially objected to confirming Biden’s victory in Arizona but changed his position after a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol. on Jan. 6.

Windsor is the executive producer of the liberal online program “The Undercurrent” and a member of Democracy Partners, a group associated with Democrats.
