Kinzinger says GOP is in trouble because ‘We have no leadership’

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Rep. Adam Kinzinger on Sunday said the Republican party has “no leadership.”
  • The congressman criticized Rep. Kevin McCarthy for “not leading” and Sen. Mitch McConnell for just “trying to save the Senate.”
  • Kinzinger said the lack of party leadership is the reason why the GOP base believes in everything former President Trump says.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger called out his fellow Republicans and its leadership on Sunday. In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the lawmaker said that members of his own party could suffer in the midterms if they fail to clarify their position on issues like abortion.

“I think Republicans are in real trouble because we have no leadership,” the lawmaker said. “This is the problem … [House Minority Leader] Kevin McCarthy isn’t leading, he’s asking, ‘What does Marjorie Taylor Greene want me to do?’”

“[Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell’s just trying to save the Senate. He’s probably not going to do that. We have no leaders, and no wonder our base basically believes everything Donald Trump says,” Kinzinger continued.

The Illinois congressman said the topic of abortion “definitely changed the complexion of midterms for some.” Kinzinger noted he’s always supported exceptions in abortion bans for rape, incest and when the life of the mother is in danger, “and that was actually a fairly common thing in the Republican Party.”

“[A]nd now you’ve been seeing these Republicans go, ‘There is absolutely no exception,’ because somehow in the Republican Party, the crueler you are, the more likely you are to win a primary.”

When asked about former President Donald Trump’s mishandling of classified documents, Kinzinger criticized “the hypocrisy of folks in my party that spent years chanting lock her up about Hillary Clinton” who are now “defending a man who very clearly did not take the national security of the United States to heart.”

“[N]o president should act this way, obviously,” Kinzinger noted.

Kinzinger has repeatedly criticized the GOP under Trump’s influence.

“It’s not the party I ever joined. It’s around a person, and it’s kind of creepy, to be honest with you,” Kinzinger said.

Kinzinger condemned his Republican colleagues who he said would undermine democracy, adding that he’d prefer to see Democrats he disagrees with on policy issues win in the midterms.

“[I]f you have Republicans that are running against even left-wing Democrats that believe in democracy and believe in voting, that person should be elected over somebody who basically would overthrow the will of the people and ultimately destroy this country.”

I wouldn’t watch a Biden speech if he set up stands in my back yard.

Kinzinger is a doughhead and he isn’t running again because as a Republican no one would vote for him. He did absolutely nothing in his state to clean up the rampant crime and skyrocketing murder rate. ADAM KINZINGER is a colossal failure and should join the Democrats where he is comfortable…useless but comfortable.

The above comments are all true. The Republicans have great leadership. Pres. Trump is the leader because of his policies, which worked incredibly well! It is not cult worship! The RINOs and Dems are against him because he called out the snakes in govt and the Dark State who are out only for themselves, and for the destruction of the American Constitution so they can implement all of their nefarious deeds.

Its time for this fool to change parties. He lost his leader in Liz Cheney. Who’s boot is he gonna lick? Illinois needs to send us someone who has real American values, not a deep state actor.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger thinks a leader is someone like Putin.
Kinzinger is the reason why we need an IQ test for our leaders! Rep. Adam Kinzinger would never pass it.
