She later learned her pregnancy had survived, leading her to speak out and file a formal complaint in Clark County. The complaint alleges that her providers did not properly interpret ultrasounds or blood tests, which showed early signs of pregnancy and rising hormone levels.
Norris argues doctors failed to confirm non-viability before proceeding with the abortion. The complaint specifically names Dr. Sheldon Paul of Women’s Health Associates of Southern Nevada for allegedly performing the procedure without supporting diagnostic confirmation.
According to the lawsuit, after the abortion, providers continued treating her as if the pregnancy had ended and prescribed abortion-inducing medication. Norris claims she sought hospital testing before taking the medication, where she learned her pregnancy was still viable and a fetal heartbeat was detected.
“If this happened to me, it’s happening to women all the time. I want them held accountable,” Norris said.
The case accuses the clinic and its providers of medical negligence, failure to meet accepted standards, and misrepresentation, stating their actions caused her emotional suffering and jeopardized her pregnancy. The complaint sought damages for these harms, with defendants denying wrongdoing before swiftly settling after opening statements.
