Liz Cheney reportedly urges Wyoming Democrats to switch parties and vote for her

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • GOP Rep. Liz Cheney is encouraging Wyoming Democrats to switch parties to vote for her in the state’s upcoming Republican primary in August.
  • Cheney’s role in the Jan. 6 committee led to her polling behind Trump-endorsed candidate, Harriet Hageman.
  • The website for Cheney’s campaign now includes a link to a form for switching parties in Wyoming.

GOP Rep. Liz Cheney is reportedly encouraging Democrats in Wyoming to switch parties to vote for her in the Aug. 16 primary.

Wyoming Democrats claimed they have received mail from Cheney’s campaign in the last week, detailing instructions on how to switch party affiliation to vote for the congresswoman. Cheney’s campaign website also provides a link to a form for switching parties.

Joseph Barbuto, the chairman of the Wyoming Democratic Party, said he received Cheney’s mail. Barbuto said that over the last week, his social media feeds have been flooded with posts from Democrats about receiving mailers from Cheney’s campaign.

“I haven’t had any Republicans share online or tell me that they received it,” Barbuto said Thursday.

Cheney has not talked about recruiting Democrats since she voted to impeach former President Donald Trump in 2021. She will face Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, in the August primary contest.

Cheney previously dismissed the possibility that she would make an effort to reach out to Democrats ahead of the primary.

“That is not something that I have contemplated, that I have organized or that I will organize,” Cheney told The New York Times in February.

On Thursday, her spokesman, Jeremy Adler, said that the incumbent congresswoman was “proud to represent all Wyomingites and is working hard to earn every vote.”

The campaign for Hageman says Cheney is trying to salvage her political career by seeking Democratic votes.

Carly Miller, Ms. Hageman’s campaign manager, said, “What Cheney doesn’t understand is that Democrats will drop her like a bad habit after she’s no longer useful to them on the Jan. 6 committee.”

Barbuto said Democrats are appreciative of Cheney’s role in the Jan. 6 committee. However, they would not forget that “she still has a voting record that was, 97 percent of the time, with Donald Trump while he was in office.”

Moderate Wyoming Republicans typically recruit Democrats to change parties ahead of primaries. The practice helped Gov. Mark Gordon to win over a primary field in 2018 that included Hageman. Democrats and independents can switch party affiliations by mail up to 14 days before the primary, or they can do so at the polls during Election Day.

Barbuto said he had heard of a number of Democrats planning to change party affiliations this year than in the past. He predicted, however, that it would not be enough to help Cheney beat a candidate backed by Trump.

“Even if every Democrat in the state switched over,” he said, “I don’t think it’d be enough to help her.”

    Lizzy Cheney took an ax
And gave our President 40 whacks.
When she saw what she had done,
    She gave her voters 41.

She’s a snake. If you fall for her “Switch parties, Democrats. I’m here to help you” scheme, she’ll do the same to you. Once disloyal, always disloyal.

Cever! I like it! Lizzy Cheney was a democrat to begin with. She disguised herself as a republican strictly to infiltrate the republican party. All the republican senators that betrayed the 2nd Amendment recently are also democrats disguised as Republicans so they could destroy the Second Amendment. Traitors are not respected by anyone! They can’t be trusted! They can’t even become low-life underhanded democrats now. Lol. Lol.

Maybe it’s Cheney who should switch parties. Quit pretending to be a RINO when you’re 100% socialist.

When a so-called Republican starts begging for Democrat votes it confirms she knows its all over along with, hopefully the rest of the Rino’s in Congress. You know, by default, Trump really is draining the swamp. What a great time for America and November cannot arrive too soon.

Great comments, all. Cheney is a RHINO, a war monger, and judging how she talks and how she acts and speaks on this committee, not the brightest crayon in the box. She hates a President who did more for America since 2017 to now than anyone thought possible. All the while fighting attack after attack on himself, his family, his policies and actions, working 20 hours a day almost every day. The Dems HATE how much he accomplished for the GOOD of America and Americans. Energy independence, cheap fuel, lower taxes, fewer stifling regulations on business and energy production.

They think he remains thinking about the election with frustration. I bet almost all of us would be screaming from mountains with frustration re fraud and the resulting destruction to our country.

He didn’t accomplish absolutely anything after he finally got the ball rolling with the rollout of the Covid shots and that took him about 5 or 6 months after he found out how severe Covid 19 is.
Comparing the 2, most hated presidents in history really isn’t setting the bar very high…

    Hey Liz…

Why don’t YOU just switch parties (you VOTE and ACT like a Democrat, anyway)?!

    Because Biden is not doing what I expected by leaving the southern border so unsecure and trying so hard to normalize the AB-NORMAL and is is ok with Doctors having the right to play God;
I WOULD PUT CHEYNEY IN THE WHITEHOUSE WHEN I CONSIDER WHO SHE’LL BE RUNNING AGAINST SO FAR…
