McCarthy calls on Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas to resign or face impeachment
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Rep. Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday called for the resignation of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
- Citing conditions at the border, McCarthy said he’d investigate Mayorkas if he doesn’t step down.
- Investigations could lead to Mayorkas’ impeachment.
House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday called on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to resign over management of the U.S. southern border with Mexico. McCarthy warned that the new House GOP majority will open investigations that could lead to impeachment proceedings.
McCarthy, who is positioned to become the new House speaker when the new Congress convenes in January, said the Republican majority would use “the power of the purse and the power of the subpoena” to hold President Biden’s administration accountable for border security.
“If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign, House Republicans will investigate every order, every action and every failure to determine whether we can begin an impeachment inquiry,” McCarthy said at a press conference in El Paso, Texas.
“This investigation could lead to an impeachment inquiry,” he said.
Standing with fellow House Republicans mostly from Texas, McCarthy said he had spoken with the incoming chairmen of the relevant investigatory committees and given his “full support” to Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, at the Judiciary Committee and Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., at the Oversight Committee to open investigations.
McCarthy said he expects Mayorkas’ resignation by Jan. 3, when the new Congress convenes. Investigations would begin on day one, he said. “Enough is enough,” he said.
House Republicans have put border security among their top priorities — and Mayorkas among their top officials to investigate and try to remove from office, potentially through impeachment.
McCarthy has not yet secured the votes from House Republicans to become speaker, and he is working swiftly to shore up support before the vote from what is expected to be a slim, few-seat majority.
The California Republican particularly needs votes from his conservative right-flank lawmakers, who are eager to begin impeachment proceedings against Mayorkas and other Biden administration officials.
The lawmakers pledged to hold public hearings at the border to highlight the security concerns.

The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to convict, and the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office.
Sadly, ……….it’s not gonna happen!

Mayorkas, the FBI head, President Biden and the squad all need to be impeached or somehow removed from office.

FIVE QUICK QUESTIONS: 1) Why would the new House want to impeach across the aisle when they did nothing but nothing for 12 years? 2) MAGA symbolizes taking America back to the pre-Jackie Robinson days (i.e. liberty and justice for White forks only); 3) Removing mailboxes from the streets, redesigning voting districts and all other recent dirty tricks are un-American tactics and worthy of impeachment for anyone who sponsoring such foolishness; 4) How dare conservative legislators enact rules denying the patriotic and inventive spirit of my fore-fathers and mothers (and all other generations of non-White Americans) who have contributed as much to American life as ashen-hued persons; and 5) Why would including the life and times of REAL AMERCAN HISTORY make young White children feel bad about themselves when it’s their parents who lack the knowledge and courage to admit the true nature of their evil racist orientations? In my opinion, the two-party political system has run its course, and until ALL American’s can begin to understand what racism really is and begin to heal its hateful ways, things look very-very- bad … like Civil War ll! THINK ABOUT IT.

We don’t need more committee hearings or investigations… prepare Impeachment documents together with a strong referral for prosecution and demand the DOJ/AG act or start the call to impeach every member of the DOJ and FBI for dereliction of duty and obstruction of justice… among other felonies.
McCarthy’s call for resignations is late and ridiculously framed… we have sufficient evidence of ongoing criminal conduct by the DHS and its agents… we don’t need more time to demand prosecution of these crimes.
