McConnell doubts Republicans will flip Senate in midterms

History has strongly favored the party out of power in winning the midterm elections. But Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell cast doubts about the Republicans taking back control of the Senate in November, citing concerns about subpar candidates.
The senator made the remarks on Thursday at a Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce luncheon in Florence. When asked about his predictions for the upcoming midterms, he said that it may be more likely for his party to flip the House rather than the Senate.
McConnell explained that since Senate races are statewide, “candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.”
He continued, “Right now, we have a 50-50 Senate and a 50-50 country, but I think when all is said and done this fall, we’re likely to have an extremely close Senate, either our side up slightly or their side up slightly.”
McConnell did not mention names. But several Republican candidates who won their primaries are first-timers backed by former President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, their Democrat rivals are mostly seasoned politicians.
In Pennsylvania, recent polls show celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz lagging behind Democrat John Fetterman, the state’s lieutenant governor. In Ohio, the Senate Leadership Fund had to purchase $28 million worth of airtime to boost J.D. Vance’s campaign. In other states like New Hampshire, the Republicans failed to recruit preferred candidates.
Back in 2010 and 2012, the Republicans fell short of taking Senate control partly due to similar issues in candidacy. Christine O’Donnell, Sharron Angle, and Todd Akin lost in Delaware, Nevada, and Missouri, respectively.
Republicans can still gain control of the Senate if they win a net gain of just one seat. If they succeed, they can have veto power over President Joe Biden’s legislative agenda and nominees for top positions.

I disagree with McConnell, “seasoned politicians” is exactly what we do not want of need. Frankly, that is what got Trump elected the first time. McConnell is old school GOP and has not kept pace with the changing times. Status quo is no longer acceptable to conservatives that have come to see a better way.

Quality candidates? Mc Connell needs to keep his mouth shut. Just like Liz Cheney McConnel is a rhino as well and would have lost his last senate race had not Trump conservative’s come to his aid and gave him the support he needed to put him over the top. McConnel is part of the original Bush swamp that Trump was trying to get out of Washington. These Bush holdovers have nearly destroyed this great country, but like the democrats they take blame for nothing.

As long as we continue to elect career politicians, and McConnell is a prime example of the problem with that… politicians are not a career, it is the ability of an American citizen the opportunity to server the people an the country. This is to bring in fresh ideas, and to correct the errors made by predecessors! Making a career of politics is nothing more than a way to get rich by ripping off the people the country for personal advancement, profit and power. A politician is nothing more than a wannabe class elite, while keeping the masses in the gutter…. McConnell’s time should have been over years ago, and that’s why we need specific term limits (and no grandfathering clauses allowed) for all political positions at all levels of government… period!

I agree to many politicians get into office and maybe try to help for a short time and then see where they can personally get an opportunity to make more money by dealing with the special interests groups and then it is all gone for the people that put them there. Time limits is the best way to go. They are supposed to vote on issues for the people they represent, not whatever pays the best for them.

McConnell like the vast majority of career politicians have long ago sold their souls to the devil himself to make a deal. Not saying compromise is not a necessary asset for bipartisan political legislation. But not at the price of selling out ones morality and personal beliefs to do it! He like many other Republicans and Democrats that have sold out to Special interests greedy agenda long ago. What we needed desperately 30+ years ago is the proposed 28th Admendment passed into Law “CONGRESSIONAL TERM LIMITS”…

McConnell doesn’t want to upset the status-quo. He’s part of the machine that works in his favor. IF we had a house and senate, a DOJ & FBI that actually honored the Constitution and the people they represent, McConnell & his fellow RINO/Demonrat swine would all find themselves living their miserable lives out in jail cells, rather than senate/house chambers

One of our primary problems is Chins Mitch. He needs to go sooner than later. At the very least, short of removing him, the Republican Conference needs to remove this RINO from any kind of leadership position.

Mitch needs to be replaced. He is no better than the democrats. He has no cajones and won’t standup to the democrats. Maybe if we had Marine as the Minority Leader in the Senate, we wouldn’t be in the predicament we are in now. We wouldn’t be invaded by every country on the planet coming through our southern border. This doesn’t happen in China, Russia or any other country, except the United States. Are we supposed to take care of everyone on this planet? These career politicians have never worked a real job in their lives. All they want is to tax the working folks in this country so that they can get a government paycheck and then when they decide to “retire”, get a really good retirement paid for by the taxpayers. Also, where else in this country can you vote yourself a raise? There is n o place that I know of that allows that “perk”.

McConnell has been sucking off the taxpayers too long. He has never shown strong leadership and he tends to bite the hand that has fed him. He like many others in congress had become rich off of insider trading. It’s time to vote out all of the dead weight that has no idea what their supporters or the country thinks, he is out of touch.

McConnell is old school, Deep State, and increasingly siding with Dems like Schumer. What he’s doing now is the same as the Dems are currently doing: VOTER SUPPRESSION by making it sound like Republicans don’t have that much chance of winning this fall. “Maybe the House, maybe. But I don’t think they’ll win the Senate “. So stay home, you want us to believe, Mitchell? BALONEY, MITCH. You have said you don’t really like Trump, but we know that. WE LIKE TRUMP. Now you’re also running down all other Republican candidates. Well, despite your attempt to influence our vote or to stay home and not vote McConnell? Shame on Mitch. WE WILL VOTE and WE WILL WIN THE HOUSE AND SENATE. IF we can keep hawk eyes on the voting process and prevent fraud.. And if any fraud found,, act immediately against it and don’t accept the totals until validity proven..
