McConnell says he’d still support Trump in 2024

Senator Mitch McConnell has said he’d support Former President Donald Trump if he were to become the 2024 GOP presidential nominee. The senator said he has an “obligation” to support the GOP’s nominee in an interview with the Axios journalist Jonathan Swan this week.
“Help me understand this. I watched your speech last year in February on the Senate floor after the second impeachment vote for Donald Trump. And it was an extraordinary speech,” Swan said, referring to a February 13, 2021, speech from McConnell.
“You spoke very powerfully against the most powerful figure in the party, the president. And you said Donald Trump’s actions preceding the January 6 insurrection were a — quote — disgraceful dereliction of duty and that he was practically morally responsible, your words, for provoking the events of that day,” Swan added. “How do you go from saying that to two weeks later saying you’d absolutely support Donald Trump if he’s the Republican nominee in 2024?”
McConnell said that his support for Trump should not be considered “a front-page headline” because he as the Senate GOP leader should back the Republican nominee.
“I think I have an obligation to support the nominee of my party,” the House Mnority leader said. “That will mean that whoever the nominee is has gone out and earned the nomination.”
McConnell said he stands by everything he said about the Capitol riot and everything on February 13.
He explained that he’s not the one who will pick the Republican nominee for president as they are elected by the Republican voters all over the U.S.
Months ago, Trump has criticized and mocked McConnell.
Trump slammed McConnell in November for supporting President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill. The former president called McConnell a “RINO,” an acronym for Republican In Name Only. Trump also dubbed the senator as “Old Crow” and accused him of “jeopardizing” other Republican senators’ reelection chances.
Early this year, Trump called McConnell a “loser” for backing GOP Sen. Mike Rounds of South Dakota. Rounds irked Trump for contradicting his false voter-fraud claims.
Trump said in February that McConnell didn’t speak for the whole Republican Party or the “vast majority of its voters.” He even asked Sen. Rick Scott to challenge McConnell for Senate GOP leadership.
The same month, McConnell said he is not in favor of shortening any of the January 6 rioters’ sentences. This came after Trump hinted the possibility of pardoning the rioters.
 The New York Times reported in February that McConnell was quietly working behind the scenes to make sure some Trump-backed candidates didn’t win their Senate primaries.
Though Trump has hinted at a possible 2024 run, there was no official announcement of a campaign.

McRino never did support Trump. He has done everything possible to subvert Trump’s Leadership and Policies.

McConnell is (FOS) just like all the other RINO’s It was McConnell who put the blame on the Jan 06th Capitol fiasco squarely on Trump, and RINO McCarthy agrees with McConnell. McConnell likes to talk out of bot sides of his mouth. McCarthy has publicly stated he has no intentions of impeaching, Lying corrupt Quid Pro KING Joe. It’s not just Corrupt Quid Pro. corrupt Quid Pro’s whole administration of corrupt bureaucrats need to be impeached. So the do nothing Republicans after they take over the House and Senate as always, when the get back into power, they seem to forget about who put them there, and do a lot of talking and do nothing. McCarthy is going to subject the masses of this country two more years of Corrupt Quid Pro. If McCarthy is not going to mass impeach Corrupt Quid Pro and his cronies, then why am I supposed to vote for the Republicans, so they can waste the Taxpayers dime and time on all these B.S. hearings on a dog and pony show, to make it look like the Republicans are doing something besides sitting on their rear. Thank you very much, I will sit the next election out.
