  • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi criticized President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus response, calling him “weak” and a “failure.”
  • Pelosi called Trump “a weak leader” for not taking responsibility and putting the blame on others.
  • She added that “The president gets an F” for the failure of coronavirus testing.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not hold back on her criticisms over President Donald Trump’s handling of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In an interview on this weekend’s “Fox News Sunday,” the Speaker called President Trump “weak” and a “failure.”

She told host Chris Wallace, “Leaders take responsibility. So I said he’s a weak leader. He doesn’t take responsibility. He places blame — blame on others.”

President Trump had released a three-phase plan on Thursday to instruct states to relax stay-at-home orders and to reopen businesses.

Appearing on NBC‘s “Meet the Press” Sunday, Vice President Mike Pence declared that there is “sufficient capacity of testing across the country today for any state in America to go to a phase one level” of Trump’s plan. He added that they are conducting 150,000 COVID-19 tests daily.

Dr. Fauci had previously said that social distancing restrictions can be relaxed if there was sufficient testing being done.

Pelosi remains critical, however.

“We’re way late on it and that is a failure. The president gets an F, a failure on the testing,” Pelosi remarked.

The Speaker voiced similar thoughts in her interview with ABC‘s “This Week” Sunday.

Pelosi told ABC, “He failed. He’s failed in the testing and the rest, and [said] ‘it’s a hoax’ and ‘it’s going to magically disappear.’ That’s not based on science. This isn’t magical. This is scientific.”

The Speaker also addressed the call for additional money for the small-business loan program.

Pelosi acknowledged the need for additional money, but stressed the urgency to “support our police and fire, our health care workers, our nurses, our teachers…That’s what the state and local government is about, is meeting the needs of the coronavirus. And everything that we’re doing is about the coronavirus, understand that.”
