Controversial right-wing author and commentator Ann Coulter had been one of President Donald Trump’s most outspoken backers during his 2016 campaign, but she has since thought about withdrawing her support.

As a previous champion of Trump, Coulter had even written a book entitled “In Trump We Trust.” But now, she has declared that she can’t commit to voting for the president in November.

In an interview with the Yahoo News podcast “Skullduggery”, Coulter remarked, “He’s a defective man. Does that mean he shouldn’t be reelected? I don’t know.”

She said that her vote may neither go to Trump nor his challenger, former Vice President Joe Biden, but that she’d “probably write in Jeff Sessions.”

Sessions was Trump’s attorney general until he resigned in November 2018 at the president’s request. He had recused himself from the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, after which Trump publicly criticized him for months.

Coulter had been disappointed with the president for several months now largely because she believes Trump has not done enough to stop illegal immigration. It was her book, “Adios, America,” that had laid out many of the themes Trump echoed in his attacks on Mexicans seeking to immigrate to the United States.

Coulter has also been a longtime Sessions loyalist, so she was infuriated when Trump started criticizing Sessions again.

Coulter expressed her rage in a Twitter rant, in which he called Trump “a complete blithering idiot,” “a shallow and broken man,” and “the most disloyal actual retard that has ever set foot in the Oval Office.”

She added that Trump has been a disappointment “to all of his supporters, whom he has done nothing for.”

“He’s a big betrayer and those tend not to do well in politics. Could be it would be better to just get him out of office,” she remarked.

“There would be more decorum if you put Zippy the Chimp in the White House,” Coulter added.
