On Monday evening, a 16-year-old boy from Nassau County plummeted 50 feet into part of the Queensboro Bridge while filming content for TikTok.

Authorities said he climbed down a ladder into a narrow space before falling and getting trapped.

After roughly three hours, emergency teams freed the teen, who was suffering from hypothermia and taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell.

His identity has not been released by officials.

The Fire Department of New York’s Deputy Chief Nicholas Corrado explained the operation required significant manpower.

“This was a confined space operation, which is a very difficult, time-consuming, man-powered, intensive operation,” Corrado stated.

“It involves high-angle equipment, ropes. We have to monitor the air and create high points.”

Helicopters and police boats helped monitor the rescue around the bridge and East River as officers worked for hours to retrieve him.

Video posted by the group of teens showed them fleeing the scene, and one person was heard saying, “He dead fell.”

Other images from the same social media profiles depicted teens engaging in risky behavior, including exploring underground train passages and riding on the outside of subway cars.

The New York Police Department confirmed plans to question the teen after his recovery.

Officials said emergency services responded quickly and ensured the boy was transported to the hospital.
