Clear Facts

  • Vandals poured a toxic chemical on the Trump-Kennedy Center’s outdoor ice rink, forcing event cancellation.
  • The U.S. Park Police and FBI are investigating, but no suspects or motives have been announced.
  • The vandalism follows months of progressive-led backlash over the facility’s recent renaming after Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy.

Early Friday morning, a dangerous chemical was deliberately spread across the outdoor ice rink at the Trump-Kennedy Center, forcing officials to cancel that night’s performance.

A brown-black liquid seriously damaged the ice arena, and a gallon-sized container was discovered at the scene.

Center officials said the chemical was confirmed toxic, though its exact type remains undisclosed.

The investigation, led by U.S. Park Police with FBI support, has produced no arrests or revealed a motive.

“Today, a targeted attack on the Trump Kennedy Center vandalized and destroyed our outdoor arena, causing severe damage that we unfortunately must cancel tonight’s performance, but we are working feverishly to complete repairs so programming can resume tomorrow,”

said Roma Daravi, vice president of public relations for the Trump-Kennedy Center.

The incident blocked a scheduled show by Canadian skating group Le Patin Libre, who declined calls to boycott the venue despite activist pressure.

“We don’t have this kind of prosperity that allows us to live easily and perform when we want.”

stated founder Alexandre Hamel, explaining their decision to honor the event.

Trump-Kennedy Center president Richard Grenell attributes the vandalism to ongoing organized campaigns by the political left, referencing continued attempts to pressure performers off the schedule.

“This is so sad & unnecessary – @TheDemocrats have been calling artists urging them to cancel and attacking the Center non-stop. It’s a calculated campaign.”

Backlash against the Trump-Kennedy Center has grown since the board’s December 2025 decision to rename it after Presidents Trump and Kennedy, which led to a wave of show cancellations from prominent artists obeying progressive activists.
